Thanks Mike, I really haven't looked at my foglights off my old bumper yet. That would be a problem for later...

I had the kitty cats. One of my buddies and I had a heated debate as to whether it was or was not a fox. His logic was it was a fox on a foxbody.

Ok, enough time spent lusting over the '83 t-top. I need to get to work on mine.

I'm going to strip all the stuff off of the hatch first, then probably screw around with it to see what I need to fix to make it good enough for Doby.

If I'm allowed, I'll modify the lower shock mounts today.

I'll post pictures later.

I was washing their dirt off the new bumper and it hasn't been painted. It's just ecoat on it. Can anyone tell me if this looks like the correct ford markings. I may have gotten a real ford part that was hardly used.

Ok, got the hatch torn down now.

I would repair the rot spot now if I had extra thin metal for that, got to look around. I wonder if the old inner fender panels would be too thick?

The top side looks amazingly straight.

I have to take it to work on Tuesday to get the glass guy to pull the glass out. BTW, the glass is heavier than sht!

Could you cut the rot out and fiberglass it?
I could if I wanted to wear my stupid sign more frequently.

I've reread this Chris and I realized I sound like a dick, sorry.

If I had an aftermarket hatch made out of fiberglass, only then would I use a fiberglass repair.

Those type of patches on metal are very shoddy. You need to maintain fairly equal structural integrity in a repair. Fiberglass eventually pulls away from metal through the regular movement of the vehicle.

I wouldn't do this to my car or anyone else's that I would work on.

That's a ford engineering part number on there. Looks legit to me

Do you know much about the new ones being sold from original ford tooling? Wouldn't those molds be required to have the ford logo and part number wiped before they could make bumpers?

I just don't get this lucky normally, first that '83 t-top, now this.....Friday was a good day.

So I had to go buy an official fox body mustang hatch repair kit from lowe's.

I'm simply going to cut out the three spot welds, roll back the edge from the outer panel, cut out the bad stuff, clean up and fit in a piece from this sheet I bought. Then tack it in similar to the engine bay panels, grind, mud and primer and it'll be fixed.

It's 22ga steel, that's what the hatch seems to be made out of.
