Best shifter for a toploader 4 speed

I don't know why Hurst insists on including the POS plastic bushings in the kit. They'd do themselves a favor by putting both plastic and the steels in the kit. Not many know about the steel bushings, you have to search for their part# in their site. They used to be a common item in the speed shops (along with the shifters:D ) The plastic ones dampen the shifter noise, but the steels last longer and give it a slightly firmer shift feel.:nice:

Amen. Just add the extra $3.26 to the price of the shifter and add an extra paragraph to the directions about which bushing to use based upon owner preference. I wouldn't blink at an extra $3 for the shifter but, what a pain to have to learn about them (in my case the hard way) and then have to order and wait for them.

Do you have the original shifter? It's worth using. If it needs to be rebuilt parts and rebuild services are available thru Ford Vintage Trans shifter on the bay. No affiliation. Bill Heeley will rebuild it for you he has done my Tigers shifter and I used his parts on a 65 vert Trans. He has a quick turn around time too.
