If there is anyone here who actually understands and can explain the convoluted wiring functions in a 68/69 wiring system, PLEASE HELP ME! Being an electrician (low voltage) as well as a sound engineer and custom builder of tube guitar amplifiers, I'm fairly electrically savvy, but this layout is really confusing. My concerns surround the starting, charging and main power feed. I have one the few slightly different diagrams available. I won't yet go into the down & dirty until someone speaks up.

Please Help Me,
Gene

Well I personally am a retired Air Force Jet engine technician and also have extensive experience in "low voltage" electrical systems as well as some residential. I've also been working on stangs (as well as others) since the early 70s. Yeah I'm old I know.
That being said it doesn't really mean a damn thing cause we all have different problem solving skills and sometimes need to pick someone elses brain to figure something out.
I don't think Ford thought we'd be working on these cars for this long and didn't put a lot of effort into decent diagrams as long as their factory workers knew what was going on that's all they cared about.
Anyways, I can't promise anything and may not be able to help at all but i'll try.

Well Sir,
I have one of the "complete" wiring diagrams in a "png" file format and would love to share it with you, but It's not appropriate to post copyrighted or purchased material. I could convert it to a "jpeg" and PM it to you, but it's easier/clearer to read/zoom/etc. as the "png" so if we PM each other our actual emails, I can send it to you?

I've already found the "splice" in the midst of the "underdash" portion of the harness. We could discuss this all more sanely and intelligently when/if we are looking at the same diagram.

Thanks For Your Willingness To Try Helping Me!

Oh my goodness ,he''s Back ! Have You been trying to plug that guitar into the radio in that Mustang again ?:rlaugh:

Nossiree,
But I have built a truly "vintage" style piece that is glorious to carry in my Mustang and play through. It's a direct, accurate clone of a 1957 Fender Tweed Deluxe amp and it's as close as one can get to the "real deal" without spend $4K-$5K! It gives me what I need to "Rock Out With My Cock Out" on a daily basis!:cheers::eek::p

Thanx 4 Askin'

My Son and Grand Twins live in Reno and now that I've "upgraded" to a small-ish guitar rig, axes and amp follow me everywhere like lost puppies!:nice: I'll ask for contact info the next time I cruise up that way! And when I get my new "Hit Single" finished, I'll share it. It's titled "I Wanna Be A Lesbian" to coincide with crap going on in today's news!
Thanks,
Gene
