Build Thread 84ttop: I Suck At Updating This Thread...

@84Ttop What exactly is the difference in handling of your car with/without that wing on it??

Always wondered about those.
It's mostly a stability issue that the wing corrects. I mean it eliminates bring a table to the track as well.
Seriously though, I've found that most cars the see over 165mph benefit from the stability that a wing adds. Also, cars with a very short wheel base benefit from a wing at even lower speeds. Don't forget the aerodynamic improvements that can be made as well. Years ago we installed a racecraft wing on my buddies car and it picked up 3 mph in the 1/4 after switching from the stock hatchback wing to the racecraft piece. Don't get me wrong, there are also challenges that the wing adds. Parachute placement is much more critical to avoid the wing and the air eddies that it creates. Also, depending on how the wing is built there may or may not be an adjustable wicker that can be used to increase downforce on the car at speed. It's one of those things that not only looks good but is actually serving a purpose

Edit: I've driven this particular car as fast as 8.90@158 without the wing on it without issue. I honestly do feel more comfortable with it on the car though

Yeah. I knew the purpose of it, just didn't know how subtle the difference was. I've considered doing Texas mile in my car, and maybe heading out to Nevada for the silver state classic sometime and wondered if I wouldn't benefit from one. She does feel light on her feet over 150 mph.

Edit: I haven't really pushed it much past that, but don't want it to end badly if i do...

Better safe than sorry in my opinion. My car has been 180 in the 1/4 and it's an absolutely un-nerving feeling either way. No way do I have the balls to be in it to win it for a mile!

Well, I think I need a lot more motor before i do it, but I want to be able to keep the shiny side up, that's for sure. I had an SN car that over 130 would wag it's tail severely. Not a good feeling. I think I'm about to go to coilovers before long, and then look into aerodynamics.

Well, I'm not going to put one on an otherwise stock appearing car and roll around town with it, but if/when I decide to go really fast down a runway or blocked off desert highway... I'm afraid it might be prudent for a fox to have one.

I kind of like my stock look, tbh. Surprises people. :)

Playing with the keyboard this weekend... Ran some C16 through the motor to get some temperature in it after being ran on Meth for the last year or more and never seeing more than 140 degrees of coolant temp
That's @TOOLOW91 cheesin' in the backround hahaha

Are you still around lol
Still alive and well, working 60+hours a week and dealing with a fractured leg has tied me up recently. There has been some progress on the 2015, it should be done in the next 2 weeks!
Also, the 84' will be attending the American Muscle show next weekend and will be at the Vortech booth

What did you do to your leg?

BTW, very cool for you and the older green beauty scoring the Vortech booth. Wish I could come see it.
