hey guys, I have a 2003 mustang GT, and the reason why I'm here today is to see if anyone can help me figure out what's wrong with my car or point me to the right direction. The problem with my car started a few weeks ago, when I'm out for a drive and I make a complete stop, the car idles close to 1k rpm and then shuts off. It starts right back up again with no problem. I changed the fuel filter, air control valve, idle pulley, tension pulley, spark plugs, and serpertine belt in hopes that it would solve the issue, but it didn't.

The next step should be a through review of the battery and charging system. You may not believe this but the motor shutting down for no reason with an easy restart could be a bad battery or loose battery cable.

Bottom line. Today's cars simply will not run right without a strong battery and charging system.

Hey thanks, I went ahead and checked the battery and cables to the best of my ability, and everything looks fine. The battery is maybe 8months old. Should I replace the battery before you recommend something else?

Automatic or manual? If automatic does the problem only occur coming to a stop?

Are you positive there isn't a vacuum leak?

Here's some information on how to trouble shoot idle/IAC issues:

The car is manual, and yes only when I make a complete stop does the car shut off. Not every single time but maybe 6/10 times will the car shut off. I will check for a vacuum leak today and let you know what I found. And thanks for the link, I will clean my mass air flow sensor just to be sure
