Yea, the hatch closes well. It just needs to be shifted forwards towards the front of the car to tighten up the gap where the hatch meets the roof....

Yes. As long at the sending unit matches (or is very close to) the range of the gauge, it will work fine.
I think the thicker oil will help the smoking more than the turbo clocking will, but it sure doesn't hurt to make it drain better if I can.
