    Interesting Tach Issue

On my long list of things to do, has always been to get the tach working. Today I was doing some work, and noticed an ever so slight twitch of the tach needle. I first thought I had just imagined it. The previous owner told me the tach didn't work, so I have been under that...

    Vacuum Advance

Everytime I hook up the vacuum advance hose to the distro from the carb, the engine starts to run like crap. I disconnect it, and plug the ports and it runs great. Any thoughts? Is this even a problem?

    Engine idle surging

I have finally gotten settled into my new house enough that I can start working on the Mustang again. The good news is it starts right up, pretty easily in fact. The bad news is the idle is all over the place. It surges, then settles back to 1000-1600, then will jump up to 3000 RPM...

    Need more help please

First off, I bought an engine analyzer and hooked it up to measure the engine RPM at idle. From a cold start, it went up to 3400-3500 RPM and never came down. I have adjusted the fast idle setting, as well as the curb idle and nothing seems to make a difference. Any help? Secondly, and...

    Engine starting issues

The last few months haven't afforded me much wrenching time, but this weekend is rainy, my honey-do list is caught up, and the garage was beckoning my name. When I last left it, my 351 C, with Edelbrock Performer, and Holley 750 was not starting. Since time with the car has been hit and miss...

    2 things I learned today

    1. With about $20 in hardware, and 30 minutes of time, you can build yourself a really nice adjustable throttle linkage. :nice: Considering it's really the first time I have ever fabricated a part I am very happy with the results. Anyone who is interested, just let me know and I will...

    Good News!!! and a question?

First, the good news. She's alive!!!!. Some of you read and responded to this thread: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=558318. Turns out the battery had failed. It was only putting out about 300 cranking amps. So, I got a replacement battery, and she fired right up. Even idles...

    eeeeggghhhh

OK, that is the best description I can gie of the noise my car is making. This of a really old fashioned oven timer. Not the beeping kind, but the buzzing kind. I have replaced the starter motor, and the starter solenoid. The battery has a good charge, I had it hooked up to a charger all...

    .22 rifle shot?

OK, here's a good one for you. I went to fire up the stang today, it didn't want to start at first. Then, all of a sudden, a sound like a .22 rifle. Not your typical backfire sound. It was very "sharp" if that makes sense. Car still won't start. Any thoughts? 351 Cleveland Edelbrock...

    Nothings ever easy

I finally got the opportunity to try and start my 351 since I installed the Edelbrock intake and the new Holley carb. It sounded like it wanted to start, and it did stumble over a few times, but never would catch. So, I get out, walk back around and look under the hood. The steel fuel line...

    Couple of questions

I am in the process of reassembling my 351 Cleveland in my 67 Coupe. 1. What is the proper location for attaching the negative battery cable so that it's properly grounded? 2. What is a good location for attaching the electric choke to a 12 volt source? Thanks in advance.

    Engine price opinions

I need some opinions/advice. I may have a lead on a guy locally who wants to buy my 1970, 351 Cleveland with 2 barrel heads. The engine is complete and includes and Edelbrock Performer intake. Other than that, there are no major mods other than ARP engine bolts. My question is, what do you...
