Fixed brakes, and now gas guage is messed up....

LOL, fix one thing on this car, and something else breaks. I got my manual drum to power disk conversion sorted out. My god what a difference. It's a new car. :) Unfortunately, it's a new car with a screwed up gas guage. :( It worked fine when we started the project. When we got...

Question about checking MC pushrod length

I got to reading posts through search, and I notice everyone harps about the booster pushrod not engaging the MC plunger fully. I'm wondering if this is related to my problems in my post about my power brake conversion issues (soft pedal, and no pedal return). My questions: With new stock...

Weird Problems with Power Brake Conversion. Need Help.

To recap, I'm going from 4 wheel manual drums to power front disks on my 68, with all mustang parts. I obtained disk brake spindles and distribution block from a donor mustang, and bought everything else new. New booster, Master cylinder, Adjustable Proportioning valve, Power Brake pedal...

In the middle of Power Brake swap. Need help fast!!

A buddy and I are putting power disks off a Mustang onto my manual drum brake car. I have all the parts, but we have a few concerns we've found so far. 1. Power Booster. The original manual booster was secured by 2 threaded bolts. The Power booster appears to need 5 holes in the firewall...

Wish me luck. Car's officially on Ebay.

Wish me luck. Car's officially on Ebay (and in our classifieds). I found the exact car I want a lot sooner than I expected, so I've decided to offload the coupe. It's been a fun learning experience. There's plenty of pictures if any of you want to see what the car looked like...

    Thinking about selling the 68.

I'm strongly considering selling my 68 Hardtop. It's a great car, and I've enjoyed it. But I just can't seem to shake my desire for a fastback. And right now I've found a couple of reasonable deals among the overpriced maddness out there. :) If any of you know anybody interested in a good...

    Close call...

Finally got some time yesterday to disassemble my drums to see what's up with my brakes. I pull the front right wheel off, and what do I find.... 2 stress fractures on each side of the ball joint on the upper control arm. :bang: Had my brakes not failed, this probably would have broken...

    Brake problems, and a question

My front right drum (manual, on a 68 Mustang) is locking up under any braking condition (light or heavy), and remains locked up for 3-5 seconds after I release the pedal. I know there isn't much to brakes, and I'll be tearing into it this weekend (hopefully). Just curious what you all...

    Car's fixed. :D

Thanks to everyone for their input. I got it back together and I fired right up. It sounds bad-ass now that it's dialed in right. :D I have no idea what fixed it. I can only assume it was in the valve lash, because I didn't change any parts when I reassembled it. I'll...

Taking bets on what's wrong with my motor...

Ok. I bought this motor about 8 months ago for my car. Here's the run down (I know it repeats my other post): 040 over 289 .200 dome pistons Edelbrock Performer heads (60 cc) Comp Cams XE 230/236 .554/.558 110 Edelbrock Performer 600 carb Edelbrock Performer intake (about to be replaced...

How does this intake sound with my engine combo?

A lot of you guys are touting the Weiand Stealth intake, so I'm thinking about getting one to replace the sorry performer intake I have now. Engine: .040 over 289 .200 dome pistons Edelbrock Performer heads (60 cc) Comp Cams XE 230/236 .554/.558 110 Edelbrock Performer 600 carb Is the...

If this were your car, what would you check??

My engine has been frustrating me lately. First, the general specs: 289 (.060 over) Edelbrock performer heads CC XE 230/236 cam Edelbrock Performer Intake (I know I need a better one) Edelbrock 600 cfm carb w/electric choke on a 1" riser. I haven't changed a thing out of the box except...

    Quick disk brake question

My car (68 Stang) currently has 4 wheel manual drums. I have the power front disk brakes from a 68 donor. Will they fit behind my factory 14" styled steel rims?
