I had all bolt on's gears, exhaust, tb, and my car felt almost as good as it does now charged, not a huge difference. I should have went the turbo route, but I didn't want to cut my car up. I wish it it had a little more torque.
I agree with the 4.6 liter only because the 5.0 sn 95's are freakin pricey around here! You can ****** up a DOHC with a few miles on it cheap and have a newer car. the 520 RWHP is a little high, the stock bottom end won't last making that power, and getting over 400 Rwhp will require a good...
Don't buy one from summit Racing. I bought one there and my car was running lean at 4600 Rpm's on the dyno with a t-rex inline. Paul at php dropped one of his flow tested pumps in and no more fuel problems. You might get a good one but there is a chance of getting a POS.
I had a zex kit on my old fox. I believe it was a 75-125 hp dry kit. It worked very well for me. Everything was high quality in the kit and made great power right out of the box.
Your 96 uses the old type pump that mounts in the metal bracket where the 98's use a plastic basket like the newer cars, nobody sells an aftermarket high flow pump for the 98's . At least I can't find one.
I went through this with my 98. You are able to modify the basket to make the pump work, thats what carl told me at Pauls high performance, but he said you have to run at least a half tank of gas if your in boost. I have the non cooled kit for my car which is not yet installed, and I'm going...
What kind of clutch are you guys running on your 96-98's? I want something to handle around 400 Rwhp, while still having close to stock feel. I have heard good things about spec and mcleod (spelling?)
Thanks for any input!!
That sounds about right, I already did this once, I remember the newton pounds that my chilton lists, but I estamated last time, and I forget what I came up with.
Thanks.
