Help with deep-dish Mach 1 rims please

Hi all, I have a 1968 coupe that I've been trying to find rims for... and it hasn't been going all that well. Trying to stay away from the typical TT/TT2/Bullitt/Cragar style. However, I do know that IMO 5 spoke rims look better than anything else on a classic 'stang. So what I am now...

    Opinion on engine/trans purchase

I don't post all that much but I'm always lurking trying to learn. Anyway, there was a poster on another forum that had a "fully built" 302 and a new 4 speed toploader with bellhousing, new clutch, pressure plate, etc. for sale. The engine has less than 100 miles on it and the transmission...

    Opinions needed on Paint ideas

Thanks for the replies, Craig. If I came across as argumentative it's just because I didn't want to get into the "you can't pay that much for a paint job". If you could chime in on the rest of my idea it would be very much appreciated. I was thinking something like this for paint: SEM...

    Opinions needed on Paint ideas

My timeframe is "as long as it takes for you to finish this" because... that saves me money! You're in the industry, you should know this. My car will come back exactly as I expect because I know what I am getting when I pay for things I purchase. As I have said before... I HAVE SEEN THE...

You're wrong. He is fixing the rust. What is it that you don't understand about that statement? And for your materials... how much of that was the cost for your base coat and how much for your clear coat? Because the paint I am looking at is much cheaper than any base coat... and you...

    Opinions needed on Paint ideas

Thank god for rationality. I didn't post this here for people to tell me "that's not possible". I posted it to get opinions on the SCHEME and whether or not it would look good.

Yes, but do you want to take a guess at the amount of hours that go into wet sanding on a good paint job? Because if you are trying to get a good mirror finish on the paint it is a TON of wet sanding. That has nothing to do with the bodywork IMO. I used the wrong terminology up above...

OK... I'm not sure what happened to this thread but I'll try to reply to the comments. That's laughable. I can almost guarantee the average shop rate here is higher than CT. Do you even know where Redondo Beach is? you know what they say about assumptions, don't you? The shop will be...

    Opinions needed on Paint ideas

I'm in Southern California, Redondo Beach specifically. Here's the back story on why I can get this price for paint... I've been using one mechanic and shop recently to do all of the work on my car. He's done the complete front suspension, rear leaf springs + shocks, replaced all steering...

Actually, there is stainless on these cars. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all of the window frames are stainless steel. I am referring to the edges of the driver and passenger roll-up windows... not the quarter window which I know are chrome. As for the price, I don't think it's that far...

    Opinions needed on Paint ideas

OK... so hopefully I haven't worn out my welcome with these questions yet, but here's another one. I received a quote for paint to do very good bodywork, prime, and topcoat with a flat-black for $2300. This is for my 1968 Coupe that has a bunch of smaller dents and the typical rust in the...

Help needed to get the right stance

I'm taking the car in to get new rear leaf springs soon, and I figured that it would be a good time to address a few other things such as the stance. The first question I have is if it would be a good idea to just replace all the shocks? The front suspension is all new and now I'll have...

    Sound deadener for 65 Mustang

I'll second the SecondSkin audio idea. I used SecondSkin's deAmplifier Pro on my car - put 2 layers of it from the firewall thru the backseat - and it is working well.

Wanting to add Shelby decklid + endcaps to my '68 Coupe - questions

I'm taking my car into the shop today to get a quote on bodywork and paint. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, but I'm leaning towards getting the work done and leaving the car in primer for now to keep my initial costs down. I can get it sprayed when I get the cash. The plan is to...

    Whats a 67 Coupe 428 w 4 speed worth?

There were some Shelby coupes made, but I don't have knowledge about them or any info handy unfortunately. After a little digging, here's what I came up with: There were 2 official Shelby coupes made, one in '67 and one in '68. The '67 was called "Lil' Red" and ended up getting cruished...

    Whats a 67 Coupe 428 w 4 speed worth?

There was no 428 in any 1967 coupe... unless of course it's a Shelby ;-) The first time the 428 was available was in the 1968 model year... and I believe that the three "big-block" codes you are looking for are: R code - 428 C/J Q code - 428 police interceptor W code - 427

    Cracked C4 casing... solution?

haha, that's exactly what I was thinking. the one thing I'm going to have to watch is to make sure I don't JB Weld over one of the bolts.

    Cracked C4 casing... solution?

Hi everyone, So... I have a bit of an issue with my transmission. The casing has a small crack in it near one of the bolts, and that is allowing trans fluid to slowly leak out. The transmission isn't in the best of shape, but when there is enough fluid (that hasn't leaked out yet) it...

    Know of any job openings?

Let me start off by saying that I've been trying to find a job that I enjoy for years now, to no avail. I'm currently working for a friend until at least June, but he isn't sure what is happening with the company after that point so I need to look around. The one thing that I know I enjoy, no...
