    Turn signal switch question

I found the tool I didn't really want to buy a special tool for probably a one time use. So I started thinking based on the description of the special tool, what do I already have that I can use? I ended up taking the ink cartrige out of a pen. The hole where the pen tip used to stick out is...

    Turn signal switch question

I’m replacing the turn signal switch in the steering column in a 67 and I have a few questions. The switch has all the wiring for the horn and signals. At the end of each of the 10 wires is a metal pin that goes into the connector. Is there a trick to getting the old wires/pins out of the old...

    Freeze Plug Removal / Installation

I have a 67 289 I don't know how similar they are. When I had to replace one of my freeze plugs this is how I remember doing it. I used a screw driver and placed it at the edge of the freeze plug and hit it with a hammer. This caused one side of the plug to go in toward the block and the other...

Help me identify this part of the engine

Thanks for the info. I'm using the original stock temp sensor so if I ever run aftermarket guages I have some options on where to put the temp sensor and I can run both. I figured the main difference was the one in the T-housing would be different with the thermostat open or closed.

Help me identify this part of the engine

When I was replacing my manifold, from cast iron to Alluminum. I removing the old heater port connection or water outlet I forget the actual part name. I used a pipe wrench to get good leverage on it. But as the others mentioned be careful. When in doubt take it to a shop. But I got mine off...

Car stalls and won't start up for a while

Update on stalling Well looks like the problem is solved. Turns out the wire that I added to bypass the resistor wire for the electronic IGN from the IGn switch to the coil was loose at the coil. I disconnected it cleaned it up a little and put it back on and tightened it up. No more stalling...

Car stalls and won't start up for a while

I realize from your post that I left out a piece of info, when I originally put in the pertronixs I put in a direct wire from the IGN switch to the pertronixs to get the 12 volts. I don't remember for sure if I took a volt reading after putting in the wire, I figured I should be getting 12 that...

Car stalls and won't start up for a while

Actually the new filter was put between the tank and the mechanical fuel pump. WHen I was calling around to see if any local auto parts places had the little filter sock, Carquest said they had one but when I got there they sold me the inline filter it is a metal cylinder about 3 inch diameter...

Car stalls and won't start up for a while

Here is the deal. Kind of a long story but it covers several months. 67 289 automatic. The car was sitting for 4-5 years, head gasket was bad. Had some machine work on heads and new edelbrok Al intake and carb and pertronix ign. The gas and other fluids drained and replaced WHen I checked the...

    no spark @ plugs

This may not be the case since you apparently get spark to the coil, But when I installed the pertonix I had to rewire it from the ignition switch to get enough voltage to the pertronix. Check this link http://va-mustang.com/articles.php?articleId=3

On my 289 I was having a similar issue. coolant fluid on the top surface of the timing chain cover. Like you mention the "wells". At one point it suddenly got worse on the freeway. I started getting some fluid on the windshield. I pulled over and had it towed home. There was a hole corroded...

Look at my leaky fuel tank. Hope to find a shop in San Diego

I'm in San Diego and I would agree with the prior posters. First of all removal and replacement of a tank is realtively easy, draining it is probably the hardest part. In any case not a job for a mustang specific shop. If you order a tank you'll proably want to make sure it comes with a new...
