My first pass was in a 1981 Z28 Camaro. Had a mild cam, intake, and carb setup. Ran a 15.29 @ 90 mph!

The stock injectors won't supply enough additional fuel to run a very big shot at all. They would prob be maxed at a 50 shot, and that may be pushing it. I wouldn't risk it by running stock injectors.

I understand that, but at that speed a 6 or 8 pt would be a little reassuring. I have a friend with a 3.4 Whippled Cobra that doesn't have a cage yet either. He's been 10.13 @ 139 so far and keeps getting the boot every track he goes to, lol!

Don't forget rollcage also, lol!

I want to say the pressure plate should be torqued to 35 ft/lbs. Not positive though. When I put mine on, I just tightened them like you would a wheel in a star pattern.

Definitely need to tilt the motor/tranny back as far as you can. Your gonna need about 2 feet worth of extensions to get the top two bolts. It helps if you put your socket on a wobble tip extension. Once you get the motor tilted back, you'll be able to see the top bolts and have a better idea...

Well, I bought a completely stock engine out of an '03 model GT with 55k miles on it. Mine gave up the ghost last fall. Also, bought some track wheels/tires. Guy just bought an '01 Cobra from my buddy and didn't want these with it. So his loss, my gain!

Nice job man! You won't have to worry about too many cars that might pull up beside you when your running that quick/fast! You'll get that 11 second slip the next time out no problem!

Best time to go is during the day when its cool/cold. The sun helps keep the track sticky while the cool air helps the cars make power. Our track used to move its test n tune day to saturday afternoon late in the season.

That post shows how much you really know about drag racing. Street racing IS drag racing, unless your out there doing the "ricer roll". Also the comment of nitrous being for ricers, calling it "NOS" makes you sound like a ricer. In the real world, most of the true fast cars at the tracks...

You could send your heads to MMR for their porting service as well. Pricing doesn't seem too bad to me. As for making 550, you gotta remember that full bolt-on ported Eaton Cobra's are barely making that with the 4v heads. Good luck with it!

I've been thinking of buying one of the MMR forged shortblocks and getting my heads ported. May run the new motor NA for a while and sc it later on down the road.

Looks good man! A set of lightweight wheels/tires like that makes up a ton of et. You will love them! I was hoping to buy a set of big/littles for mine again in the spring, but my plans have changed a bit since my last track outing. Lol!

Sucks to hear. The same kind of thing is happening here in Tulsa. We've had a track here for 50+ years and they just recently sold it. Its going to become a rock quarry in 5 years or so. There is talk that it will be leased out in the meantime to keep it open for a couple more years though.
