if you want long tubes accufab can probably make them for you, cost a little more. he has several jigs for different year/engine/tranny combos.

    Manual Fuel Pump Vs Electric

Dennis, I am 99% sure the 3/8 line you see there is not functional except to hold the fuel sending unit (sensor and float). I think the return line dumps right into the tank (there is a hole in the back of the copper colored block). I haven't had it out in some time, but this is how I...

    Manual Fuel Pump Vs Electric

most regulators have the option of a return line. You'll need to tap into the tank to do this or get a fuel sending unit that has it built in. I used a RobbMc unit http://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/1084_fordsend.html

Should I Get An Alternator With Higher Amps

140amp 1 wire too, fan, water pump, msd, radio, electric speedo, water injection, etc; extra power is nice if you plan on adding stuff later.

    Tranny Cooler

http://www.transmissioncoolers.us/H7B.html this is my cooler if the B&M doesn't work for you. If the lines are the same as the TH400 leaves from the lower port and returns back into the trans on the top one.

    Tranny Cooler

I run an after market cooler in front of the radiator. 8" convertor on the street, temp stays at 210-220 on the exit line and 160-180 in the pan. Usually, the temps in the pan match the engine temps. I don't have an integral cooler in my radiator.

    Welders

good point, make sure there are parts available in case it breaks. Clarke went bankrupt, sears still has some parts so not sure if they bought them. Either way find out who makes the welder and if parts are available.

    427 Windsor 460 Hp

I concur, if starting from scratch why not more (unless you want to limit yourself). what are your goals? I know someone who has a posi 8" chunk (and I think it is 355 gears). There are several companies that could build a motor for a similar price with more power.

    Welders

when I was looking for welders, it seemed to be a ford versus chevy battle. people would bash the cheaper ones, yet had never used them. I got a clarke and it has served me well (and still does). I wish I would have spent more money, but at the time couldn't afford one and keep moving on the...

Progress Thread Horse Sense - 66 Coupe To Fastback Conversion

Someday, when I retire I am going to do this, keep the pics coming. I still wish I would have done this with my coupe, as I probably cut as much off (except the roof). I bought a dewalt electric sawzall, the biggest one at Lowes. I have abused the crap out of it, still works as new. I do...

break up could be with your ignition box, my box went out (and I used this as an excuse to upgrade). You can get them rebuilt.

    408w Timing

yeah, I saw that too. I don't disagree that there are sacrifices, but there are gains to be had too. I am not sure that you can get the curve right either, the number of variables is pretty high. I would think factory engines take into account as many as they can and do a pretty good job of...

    408w Timing

Not sure of the science, I would have to think about it. I think it is going to have to do with the ideal timing for the maximum performance of the engine. Many people do it on race oriented motors. My idle and throttle response is great. Here is a speedtalk post...

    Electrical Halogen Headlights

agree with checking the grounds, first. also what gauge wire are you using to power the beams? On my lights I used a relay setup, with the wires that came with the wiring harness to signal the relays (which have a large gauge wire in and out for power).

    408w Timing

I run mine locked out, 30 on pump and 34 on race gas. Mine is 12.7:1 ( I also run water/meth, but that doesn't come on until about 3K). Mine was actually way harder to start when I put a retard program into the MSD box (I think I pulled 20 degrees out), and I have heard this from numerous...

    Fiberglass Front Clip

I got their aero hood. attached are some before and after pics of fitment. It was close, I had to add some to the front to get it to line up with the head lamp buckets. Any glass you get will need work. I found it easier than metal work (and I had done neither before I did my car). It just...

    Start Up With No Choke?

bingo, lean because the car is cold. choke removes some air, removes the lean condition. it is ok to be lean when cold, could be an indication of a proper idle (not to rich).

    Start Up With No Choke?

I don't run a choke, but probably a little different than your setup. However, it shouldn't idle correctly when cold. The carb should be tuned at operating temp, which will cause it to idle a little different cold. I have to feather mine a little to keep it going until it warms up. I also...
