Could it be the mix and match of suspension parts you have. They are all great parts by themselves but together they could perform less than optimal... You make more power and overpower the suspension setup you have resulting in slower times. That would be a suspension issue and not a power...

Unless you know what you are doing for sure (or if you have deep pockets) setting it to what they recommend is best until you can get some tuning help. A good tuner that knows their product might get you more.
