    65mm vs. 70mm Throttle Body

I'm lining up parts for an H/C/I in the spring: TW FAC 170s 1.6RR TFS-1 Edelbrock Performer upper, T Moss ported lower I have a Ford Motorsport 65mm TB that I bought when they first came out in when...1990? I did a search and the consensus is that a 65mm should flow enough to feed my...

School me on heads and drivability

After owning the same Mustang since 1988 I still have less than 20K on the odometer. I have the easy bolt-ons done but the long block (exc for 1.72 RR) and intake are still stock as are the 3.08 gears. What has been holding me back are the compromises with heads and intake. I want to keep the...

    Axle Brand Choices?

Any preference for a set of SN95 axles for my Cobra rear disc conversion? Summit has a few different but seemingly similar brands. What does everyone like for a street driven car an H/C/I in it's future but no power adders.

Suspension + Brakes = road noise?

I just finished my 5 lug conversion (THANKS to Mike and everyone else for chiming in on my previous thread!!) and here's what I had installed: PBR loaded calipers 13" rotors SN95 spindles and hubs from junkyard MM braided front lines Russell rear braided line 2003 Bullitt wheels...

Bullitt wheels on my 1988 LX

I saw a pic of an LX with Bullitt wheels and fell in love. My blood is pumping to get those wheels installed but I am still at the early stages of the project, meaning my 18,000 original mile car still has the 4 lug OEM rotors and axles. I found this: from Late Model Resto. So Cobra 13"...

Magnaflow catted H-pipe, performance or no?

I have a new catted H-pipe on my radar and wanted to go with Magnaflow. Their website sucks and when I found what I was looking for (PN: 93338) it listed their cats as universal. Down the application list was their catted X-pipe which lists performance cats. So, my question is this; does the...

    Photochromatic rear view mirror?

I have one of these on both my Explorer and my wife's Forester and they are great. Both have a compass (hokey but fun) and eliminate night blindness from trailing a-holes with high beams. I can't imagine there is much to these and they are available for about $100 from the dealership and less...

    Rate this combo

1988 LX already has flows, oem H pipe, UD pulleys on the crank and waterpump, 65mm TB, 1.72 roller rockers, 1 5/8" shorties, 70mm SN95 MAS. I found an Edelbrock Performer intake and I was looking at either Edelbrock Performer heads or AFR 165's (only a $175 difference at Jeg's) and the OEM...

Known issues with '86 GT seats

I have a line on a set of 1986 GT halo seats for $50. The pictures look ok, the driver's seat has a small tear on one of the seams and needs a shampoo. The passenger side looks ok. I asked the seller whether the seat recline mechanism works ok and he is going to get back to me. I haven't...

    Cowl area rust + POR-15 = Win!

Has anyone dealt with rust in the cowl area? My 1988 has just over 18,000 miles and is in great shape or so I thought until the other day a spot of orange under the cowl grill caught my eye. A closer look and I saw rust, lots of rust. After I pulled everything apart I found that it was only...

Are Polyurethane front LCA bushings too harsh?

Right now my car is at the shop for ball joints/tie rod ends and while it was there I figured to have polyurethane LCA bushings installed. I couldn't find a specific answer to whether these are a good idea or not so I called Maximum Motorsports and the tech said they are squeaky, have lots of...

Has anyone tried these - Joe Heck Products

I found these on my local Craigslist. The valve covers look pretty good but I have no experience with Joe Heck. Anyone have FHE?

Loose front end, help me diagnose

My car is a 1988 with 17,800 original miles and until spring 2007 was in storage since 1992. Before putting it away I had installed polyurethane sway bar and end link bushings, Koni adjustable shocks/struts and FMS c-springs. Everything else is stock -K-member, LCAs, LCA bushings, etc and from...

    Edelbrock combo for daily driver

I am considering a h/c/i for my '88. To date I have only picked the low hanging fruit: 1.72 roller rockers 65mm TB UD crank and waterpump pulley Mass air conversion 70mm 94/95 mass air sensor 1 5/8" headers Flowmasters I scored a mint Edelbrock Peformer intake from eBay and was...

    Seatbelt action

I have been out of my Mustang since 1992 and have been driving it again starting last March. I have a 2004 Explorer and the shoulder belt portion of the seat belts in that car will restrict you if you pull the belt out too quickly or hit a large bump. The shoulder belt portion of my '88...

    Installing power mirrors, etc

I ordered my '88 5.0 from the factory with no A/C, power windows, or doors, and since it is an LX, no power trunk or gas fill door or low coolant. The idea at the time was to save weight and make the car a track weapon. 19 years later I am wishing I had some of those power accessories (and...

MAF to OEM air box coupling size

Does anyone have a link (Jegs or Summit) or a size for a silicone coupling that goes between the OEM air box and the MAS? I installed a 94/95 MAS and the OEM flex coupling allowed the MAS to sit cocked to the air box outlet. I figure a silicone coupling would fix this.

    Who makes FRPP headers?

I found a set for sale and in the process of asking about them the seller told me FRPP headers were made by MAC. Is this right? Doesn't seem it.

    Caster/Camber plate install question

Thanks to some Stangnetters I picked up some MM C/C plates. The instructions are clear and these look like a piece of cake to install. My question has to do with what happens next? I know I'll need an alignment, but will I be able to drive my car 10 miles or so to the alignment shop?
