    Front spring question

Thanks for the reply! correct, i have the spring compressor that bolts from the shock tower to the perches, which is why i wasn't super concerned about partially releasing spring tension without proper torque (only hand tight) as there is little risk of the spring coming loose. So, if I...

    Front spring question

I am getting ready to reinstall the front suspension on a 65 mustang after a disc brake, shelby drop, and shim eliminating conversion. I am test fitting everything (haven't torqued the bolts to spec yet) to make sure that I have all the correct parts. I am noticing a problem with the upper...

    302 Clevor question

Thanks! Great info. So the Clevor setup (intake and manifold) is essentially the same as the boss 302 setup. Most threads I've read recommend the 2v 351c heads, then the aussie 351 c heads, then the 4v heads for a non track car. What are your thoughts?

    302 Clevor question

I have a bare 302 Boss block. It is my understanding that the 351 Cleveland heads (machined for water openings) mated with a boss 302 intake will work. Is this the same machining used with a regular 302 block with a Clevor setup? If I get my hands on a 351c head / intake clevor setup, will...

    Brake Drum Material

I've heard that Ford offerred an Aluminum brake drum for the 1979 Mustang. Does anyone know of other years where brake drums came in materials other than cast iron?

    Best C4 question

That model car did come with a fmx, c4 and C6. I could see that the bellhousing was separate , which ruled out the C6. The easiest way, I believe to tell a C4 from an FMX, is the cast iron case (not bellhousing or tailhousing). When you are at the junkyard, it's hard to tell iron from copper as...

    Best C4 question

I just picked up a C4 from a 78 thunderbird with the 429/460 bolt pattern. Unfortunately after I cleaned the bellhousing, I noticed the webbing was cracked on one bolt hole and there were small cracks near the crown of the starter. These cracks did not go all the way through the case. Is this...

    Best C4 question

That's right. It is actually longer, not wider to account for the locking torque converter. The bellhousing won't work with a 200 ci cyl that is from 1964-1979ish. It has a partial windsor bolt pattern which is a blend of two bolt patterns.

    Best C4 question

From what I've gathered, the C5 case is a bit stronger and has better oiling circuitry. This oiling improvement can be performed on a c4 by drilling a hole to allow better flow to the number 9 thrust bearing. The internals are not as strong as the C4. The c5 has a locking converter that will ad...

    Best C4 question

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. The Pan fill C4's were for heavily duty applications and therefore should be built a little tougher. What about the C5 case? I've heard the case is stronger than the C4, but the internals were not as tough. Same basic internals, less quality. I know the...

    Best C4 question

The pan fed C4 uses a 164 tooth flexplate and the case fed uses a 157 toothed flexplate. The 164 toothed flexplate can only be used in the pan fed tranny. Each flexplate can be balanced to match the engine. I believe a bigger clutch can be used with the pan fed

    Best C4 question

I am doing a write-up on the ford C4,C6, and C6. I am trying to determing which is the best case to choose. I know that 1970+ cases feature a 24/26 or 26/26 splined .839 input shaft. This case also bolts to the case instead of the front pump which makes it the best C4. I also read that...

    v2od overdrive US Gear

The AOD would be a good option, but it only bolts up to the 250 i6 from a 69+ stang. I've considered going to a 250 just to get overdrive. As far as adapters go, I've read some posts about this company: http://www.rodshop.com.au/transmissions.htm I am waiting for a reply.

    v2od overdrive US Gear

I agree. I would prefer an electronically engaged unit. The unit needs to be engaged at approx. 30-40 mph. Will this limit performance? I figure I can get a used GV unit for about 1500. I've found units for 800 used, but they would require a c4 adapter, which could run $700. These units...

    aftermarket combination valve recommendations
