Howdy!! the eye is just fine now, thank goodness, my GF finally un-grounded me from the garage, but I decided to get my MBA so the car is on hold for a little longer......

    My 1970 Mustang project - Frame/Floorpan/Subframes.

No progress, I injured my eye about 2 months ago (metal from the cutt-off wheel) and that took about a month to heal, it is all better now. Then I went on vacation and now it is just too hot in my garage to be welding so I am taking a break until ~Sept. So in the mean time I am doin alot of...

Best way to remove floor pan?

I use a combination of a sawzall, pry bar and a hammer.

Ok what do I do now

If you get a cheaper one that does not flow a ton, I would not worry about it. I never ran one on my old setup and I did not even run a pressure regulator. If you opt for a more expensive one then I would say yes on the regulator and return line to keep fuel temps down and save wear and tear...

    Louvers

I have seen a couple people asking about louvers in past threads. I found a place where you can buy just the louvers and mount them where ever you want. Or I found another place that sells the roller dies for a bead roller to make them your self. Anyways I will soon be placing a order for the...

Ok what do I do now

I say edlebrock for the carb, since you kinda starting, they are really easy and more than likely run fine right out of the box. Later on once your comfortable and your car is running you could upgrade to a good holley and a wideband for tunning (I really suggest that) and then sell the carb on...

    Oil resisting paint for motors?

I have always used just regular engine paint on the inside of my motor (lifter valley, underside of intake, inside valve covers, top of the heads, inside of the oil pan. Since the cast iron block is porious, the point is the fill in all the holes to allow the oil to flow better. I have never...

    Dies when put into gear

A couple of other things, do you have the vacuum hose from the distributor pluged into the small vacuum port on the passenger side? Do you have the PVC hose pluged into the middle vacuum port (the big one)? Do you have the small vacuum port on the drivers side pluged off? Like the attached...

    Dies when put into gear

Here is an couple of article that might help. It is for an edlebrock but carter and edlebrock are pretty much the same. I don't know exactly which one your using from the picture put it should be the same either way. http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2005/08/EdelbrockCarburetor/ Can...

    Dies when put into gear

I still think it is a choke problem. For example, when my choke was engaged it idled up high like it was setup to to do, but if I dropped it into gear with the choke still engaged the RPM would drop like yours. For starters I would adjust the fast idle down to like 1000 rpm with the choke...

    Dies when put into gear

I think you had several problems going on all at once, the alternator, bad ignition, etc. But it seems that you still have a few problems left. This is the joy of owning a classic...... Believe me I had seen them all at least once. On a cold start up how long do you let it idle before...

Going to rebuild the front suspension/steering on my 66

Since your at it might as well replace the strut rod bushings and idler arm. I am not sure if those come in one of those kits, but I would check it out. I heard the roller idler arm is a pretty good piece.

    Autolite 2100 idle too high

I hate to say it but it sounds like a vacuum leak! check the intake to carb gaskets, PVC connections, tranny connections (if your an auto), and distributor connections. I am not sure if you have factory AC, but my 70 has factory ac which the controls are vacuum driven. If you have a vacuum...

    how to contain rust

That is what I would do, i think eastwoods product can be applied directly over rust, but I think POR-15 needs a really clean and rust free surface to work properly

    My 1970 Mustang project - Frame/Floorpan/Subframes.

Sometimes my panels turn out flat but sometimes they are a little wavy. I usually just screw on some angle iron on the back fo the panel to make it flat then weld in the sides and then remove the angle iron. As far as 20 vs 18, I think you would be fine as long as you install some extra...

    My 1970 Mustang project - Frame/Floorpan/Subframes.

Thanks!!! the beads are not that bad once you get going they don't take that long. I am getting motivated again, but for the firewall I am thinking of using 16 gauge wo/ beads to keep it smooth, instead of 18 w/ beads on my firewalll. So where are the pics, haven't seen progresss pics of...
