    Prepping underside of car?

Wire wheels, DA sander, grinder, dremel, hand wire brushes, brake cleaner, engine degreaser, carb cleaner, lots of rags, small hand held sand blaster, putty knife... and tons of elbow grease. Then 2 coats of Chassis saver paint, 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. If...

I wish there was a suspension package with progressive rate springs

Stay away from B springs... you WILL regret it. When you hit bumps you'll actually hear your dash make a "crack" sound. I went with Eibach progressives and KYB gas adjusts on two of my Capris and couldn't be happier with the ride, stance and handling... or the price for that matter.

    AC delete bracket

Can't get any cleaner or more symmetrical than the stock factory set up. A pic of my engine for example.

    AC delete bracket

The only people who are suckered into buying "dummy" pulleys when they remove the smog pump or AC compressor are people who are too lazy to figure out a new belt size. Do it the right way and install the AC delete kit, take a piece of wire and route it around the pulleys to get a belt...

I.S.C.A Show experience or (how to get your car picked to pieces)

Shows are funny. Back when I was hitting every show I could with my '86 Capri, all I got was 2 third places out of like 10 shows... and just when I thought my car was ugly, I was in an All Fords show that was participant judged... and took a first! What that told me was the judges at previous...

    Intake Install Issues

What you're explaining usually occurs when the heads have been shaved and/or block has been decked. Anytime you remove material from the top of the block or the bottom of the heads, it will make the heads sit lower and closer together because of the V shape of the engine. This will make the...

    Compression Test Procedure?

Just pull the coil wire form the dizzy, wrap a cloth shop towel around the boot end, tuck it somewhere away from moving parts and perform the comp test. Don't overthink this... it's not rocket science.

    winterizing the stang, any suggestions??

Here's my checklist each winter: 1. Verify with a tester that the coolant is protected from freezing to about -20. 2. Remove battery, give it a full charge and store in basement. 3. Add fuel stabilizer to tank. 4. Place jack stands under frame. (unloads suspension and keeps tires from...

    nooby chick from Kentucky

I absolutely LOVE that color, looks great with the silver... actually I'm planning on painting one of my Capris that same color. As for the "porno red" interior... some like it, most hate it... I like it and the same Capri I plan on painting also has a red interior. About the intake, you're...

    nooby chick from Kentucky

Welcome and how 'bout some pics of your new ride... we love pics. You'll find there are plenty of knowledgeable members here at your disposal, so don't be afraid to ask questions. I can't help you with the gauge questions, but the sputtering could be caused by a few different things. I'd...

    FLOOR/UNDERHOOD COATINGS

I used Chassis Saver Black. Took the whole underside and engine compartment down to bare metal, two coats of Chassis Saver, two coats of black primer, then two coats of semi-gloss black paint. Went from this: To this: To THIS:

Anybody using lift struts instead of prop rod?

You guys give up too easy. I put a set on my car and, yes, it pushed my hood forward.... so I got a wrench out and did a simple re-adjusted of the hood in about 10 minutes. They've worked great ever since. God, talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

    red interior? anyone?

I bought my '82 Capri with a stock "pleather" interior with a wood grain dash and hated it, so I did some changes and made it more tolerable. Not my favorite interior but a little TLC can go a long way. BEFORE: AFTER:

Time flies (foxes are so old, now)

It's funny you bring this up. Just yesterday I was had my fully restored mint '86 Capri out and was filling her up at the gas station. An older guy (late 50's) was behind me and asked, "How are getting away with running classic plates on that car?" I looked at him strangely and said, "Well...

Does every one of these cars smell like Exhaust?

There were literally thousands of cars built before catalytic converters were mandatory... all with carburetors.... and you may be suprised to know that none of them stunk like you are saying your car does... I know, I'm old and have lived through the time of cars with no cats. A car with a...

    windshield trim

They are really easy to break. Basically there are two small tabs that slide into a metal slots mounted under them at the base of the glass. The metal slots are bent in a way that let the tabs slide in easily, but bite onto them when you try to pull them out. In the pic above, you can see the...

Does every one of these cars smell like Exhaust?

I currntly own four Capris, don't have cats on any of them and none of mine stink. If yours does, then it's time for a re-tune... or a tune up.... or some hatch gaskets... or all the above.

    Something alarming... maybe

It seems a little heat/AC 101 is in order here. The heater core and the ac evaporator core are both located in the black plastic box under the dash. The hose you see sticking out from the firewall is not supposed to be connected to anything, it's simply a drain tube coming from the heater...
