    just added GT40s to my 87 pony and I cant get the timing straight

    w/o a mass air conversion or reprogramed computer it will never run right. the dizzy might be a little off too. remove #1 plug, get the motor on TDC put the plug back in, and drop the dizzy in with the rotor pointing to the 1 on the cap, that will get it close enough to time it with a light.

    there is your problem, you have changed the airflow of the motor and the computer has no way of knowing what is going on w/o a mass air meter.

    what did you find out on this? any solution yet? i noticed your FP reg. didnt have a pressure port like mine does.

    it could be the pilot/input, but nore than likely it the throwout bearing, they are the typical noise makers like you mention.

    if the car is a 5 speed i can have one out in my gravel driveway in about 45 minutes w/o a tranny jack. save some money, do it yourself.

    okay, you may be able to prove otherwise... BUT, if you have to find one of the other VIN tags to prove its a 4 cyl car... WHO CARES, obviously the job was done nicely if nothing tips you off before then.

    did you use an aftermarket FP reg.? if so it might have a port, like my aeromotive does. if not, check the steel fuel lines that connect to the fuel rails, the inlet line should have a port as well.

    if someone does the v-8 conversion correctly replacing everything (like mine) the VIN is the only way to tell, and they might even swap them... what im saying is, if someone REALLY wants to pull the wool over your eyes, they can, and you wont be able to prove otherwise.

    boy, this sounds alot like installing windsor headers on a 5.0! did you get them new? they didnt get mispacked by some chance did they? if you bought them used, they could have been for a windsor.

    well, ive got the timing on about 14 already and the idle thing is not a big deal, it only does it in park, not in gear and my truck doesnt sit still in park much. :D thanks though.

    i have a 1990 f-150 5.0 that had a cracked head, i scored a 1988 h.o. mustang motor on the cheap with a 1995 mustang cam, i put it in my f-150 with the truck externals... runs GREAT! only problem is the idle surges a little, due to the stock truck ECU not being compatable with the mustang cam.
