Longest driven distance (in miles) in your S197

Last summer we started from Kansas City to Manhattan, KS (140 mi.) for Country Stampede (spent 4 days there), then made a run to Estes Park, CO (about 400 mi.) spent 3 days there. From Estes took tour of Rocky Mountain National Park, and a drive down the west slope to Gunnison, CO (about 300...

Help! I have caulky gunk on my hood

If it is clear to white, and left by the plumber, it is probably a silicone plumbing caulk. If so, once cured, it is not bothered by most chemicals or solvents that you would have access to. And the ones that will disolve silicone caulks will likely take the finish down to bare metal. On...

New to the site, ? about MPG

I have been driving my stock '07 GT daily from Kansas City to St. Joseph, 64 miles each way, on interstate. At 75 mph on cruise control I average 22-24 mpg, mainly depending on wind. I also have the 3.73 rear end and manual transmission. The best mileage that I have seen was last summer in...

    07 GT clutch issue?

If you are trying to "creep" at the 750 - 800 rpm idle speed, you are lugging the engine down, which will cause it to shudder and shake as you describe - you are just at the load/stall limit of the engine. Have you stalled the engine and had to restart? I always have to "blip" the...

How does your spouse feel about your Mustang?

When "She Who Must Be Obayed" and I got married (32 years ago) I had an Opel Manta that I raced in solo events and "worked on" a lot. When we started the kids/house part of life, we drove "practical/affordable" cars, even a mini-van. At this stage, I am a partner in an architecture firm, we...

    Lowering, Replace Fasteners?

BTW what does "torque yield" mean exactly? It means that the bolt is stressed or torqued into the plastic range of the metal. It is slightly stretched beyond the elastic limit, and does not return to the original length. The danger of re-using the bolt is that it has been stretched once...

    Mustang rental HELP

Check with Enterprise, I know they have some Mustangs in the Kansas City and Oklahoma City areas. http://www.enterprise.com/car_rental/home.do Also you might try contacting some of the Ford Dealerships in the area to see if they would arrange for you to drive a "Dealer Transfer". A lot of...

Early morning cold start RPM spike...

Some neighbors can be a real pain. A couple of suggestions: 1. Check the ordinance that they are using as the basis of their lawsuit. Most of the noise ordinances have a maximum Decibel level at a specified distance; eg.: 85 Db at 100 feet. If the ordinance does not have maximum/minimum...

How many miles on your S197?

Mine doesn't get much chance to rest. I occasionally rent a car for the job site visits, if others are going with me. My last car was a 2005 Focus SES that I bought in Grand Island, NE when the engine of my 1998 ZX2 blew up on I-80 (225,000 miles, O2 sensor went out). The Focus had 70,000...

How many miles on your S197?

I bought my '07 Alloy GT Convertable in April of '07 with 340 miles on it (the dealer had it driven down from Omaha). I turned over 30,000 miles on the way home from work today. As you can tell it is my DD, 65 miles each way to work, plus trips to job sites in St. Louis, MO and Kearney, NE...

    Oil dipstick

You might check the PCV valves and lines. I don't know about the current cars, but on some of the older cars if the PCV valve got plugged, or the hose collapsed, the crankcase pressure would push out the oil dipstick.

    Rollbar Installed - With Pics

Thank you for the reply. That sounds like a well-done installation, and probably well beyond what I would feel comfortable tackling on my own ("A man has got to know his limitations.") It does look good on your car though, and I can understand the additional feeling of security.

    Rollbar Installed - With Pics

That roll bar looks great! I have thought about getting one for my '07 GT, I would like to give track days a try. Can you show how it is installed, is it a DIY project, or a shop project? And is it easily removeable? Is it a custom fabrication, or are they available for shipping?

Single BEST and WORST about your 05+???

I picked my Alloy '07 GT Convertible April 29, and have 22,000 miles on it now. I love driving it every day. I just got the SCT Xcal3 this past Saturday with economy tune - looks like 2.5 mpg gain, and lost the throttle lag, especially on downshifts. On the downside; poor cup holder...

    Heated seats

Blame it on the Trial Lawyers Association. A few years ago there were some cases of children and people with nerve damage getting burned by sitting with the heater on to hot/to long. I suspect that the recent cars limit the temperature and the time to avoid this. My partner's 2004 Honda...

Newbie with a couple ???'s, and to say Hello

I have an '07 Mustang GT Premium Convertable purchased new in April, I already have 15,000 miles. Like you, I have had a number of cars over the past (to many) years, although this is my first Mustang, and it is the most fun to drive of any. Mine is totally stock (for now) with the 5 speed...
