98 GT - Budget build of sorts

Over Memorial Day weekend I swapped in a set of PI cams, and a PI intake. Went ahead and replaced the timing components since I had it all apart. Seemed to make a noticeable difference in power. One of these days I'll take it to the track and see what it runs.

    Help with speedometer issue

What gears did you go to? Usually going from the factory 2.73 to anything performance makes the speedo read too fast. I used this on my 98gt/T45 to correct the speedometer after a change to 3.73 gears Needs ground and keyed power, and is put in the gray wire coming off the vss. You use the push...

    MIL eliminators dont work

I used homemade mil elims back in the day on an 04 Mach1. It's just a 1mF cap and a megaohm resistor. Worked great for 5+ years till the car was sold. Are yours the plug in type or the splice in?

    TKX magnetic VSS Calibration

I used one of these on my 98 GT to correct the speedo after a gear install. It's just a ratio changer, so you should be able to dial it in to correct it. I did have to add a 1mF cap so the ecm would see the signal correctly. The guys there are awesome and have excellent customer service. They...

How to tell the difference between a Pi 4.6 and non Pi 4.6 / difference in 4.6 engines?

Non-PI has 2, one beside the thermostat housing and one on the other side of the crossover by the passenger head. Normally PI only has the Passenger side one.

How to tell the difference between a Pi 4.6 and non Pi 4.6 / difference in 4.6 engines?

Hard to tell for sure with those pictures since the main differences are the intake(that is mostly obscured) and the heads(internal/port changes) But I would say it's most likely non-PI since it has the 2 coil packs mounted at the fronts of the heads like they used in 96-98. Coil on Plug...

98 GT - Budget build of sorts

Thanks. Got the headlights from Rock Auto, ordered them for a 98 Cobra, $21 each. I don't remember what size shim I used on the pinion. I did use Ford Racing 3.73's and reused the shim off the factory 2.73 pinion gear. Had to shim the carrier a bit to set backlash, and I did use a stackable...

98 GT - Budget build of sorts

I sold the Corbeau seats the PO had installed, and found a set of front and rear leather seats from a 98 cobra Then I threw in a set of 3.73 gears and new clutches in the trak lok. Since then I've just been driving and enjoying it. I did put Cerwin Vega 4x6's and a JL10w1 in to improve...

98 GT - Budget build of sorts

Back in February, a buddy of mine told me he was selling his 98 GT. A mutual friend of ours had the car back in high school, then it sat for a while before my buddy bought it several years ago. He told me he was trying to get 1k for it, and it didn't take me long to decide to buy it. It needed...

Post pics of how your foxbody currently sits

I listed it Sunday evening, in 48 hours I had 1500 views, 20 people message me, 2 come to look at it, with 3 more scheduled. 2nd guy bought it on the spot. I honestly couldn't believe how much interest there was and how fast it sold. I may have priced it too low, but I'm happy. I think...

Post pics of how your foxbody currently sits

He was a young kid, 20 years old. He was ecstatic about the car. I was happy to see a younger generation appreciate the Foxbody, and told him to text me with any questions he had or if he needed help with something. I'm sure I'll miss it at times, but it needed to go so I can get serious about...

Post pics of how your foxbody currently sits

End of an era. I painted the car over the last few months, got it back together last week and drove it around this weekend. Took this pic sunday afternoon, and sold it Tuesday evening. I owned it 2 weeks shy of 12 years.

Fox Is possible to get a driver quality fox anymore?

Drive up to NC and you can buy my 86 GT for 8, lol. I still see good cars at decent prices around here from time to time, but there's a lot of overpriced junk. Just have to keep your eyes open and have cash ready. Seems like everything is up right now though and I've seen several articles about...

    Guess My H P !!! - The Dyno & 1/4 Mile Time Thread

These are from a few years ago, the last time I ran the car. ETA: just wanted to update. I sold the car a couple months ago, new owner had it dyno'd and it put down 277 RWHP. Seems pretty consistent with the time/MPH 86 GT hatch, 5.0/5-speed stock 89 shortblock (re-ring and new bearings) 96...

Build Thread 1978 Fairmont. I bet somebody back home’s thinkin’…I wonder why he don’t write..?

Doesn't sound like the .075" or .113" would have been "sufficient" then... Good thing you didn't take his word on it.
