i pulled the pivot bolt thinking that it was the fill bolt. i put it back in but it wont shift. has anyone did this or no a trick?

i have a 408 stroker in my 82 gt and as i put it in with the bbk long tube headers. the steering knuckle next to the header is rubbing against it. is ther any way to put a regular joint there or eliminate the big bulky joint? please help this is my big hold up.

its 10.5 compression and prolly spinning like 6500 max
