Help! After PI swap, runs great cold, chokes as it warms

In my case I believe the porcelain of the insulator was exposed to antifreeze for too long a period which caused it to deteriorate to the point that the electrode was effected adversely by the engines heat when the engine warmed. Good LucK!

NPI vs PI Gaskets on Intake Manifold

Those are the PI gaskets from Custom Mustang of Florida. It's a nice kit that comes with the cooling port sealant complete. Have fun and good luck!

NPI vs PI Gaskets on Intake Manifold

The PI / NPI gaskets are visibly different. Whose kit did you purchase? You must use the PI gaskets so I'd think that is what is coming with your kit. Attached is the PI gasket and then the NPI gasket (Felpro images from Autozone.) I actually used 2001 Gt OEM gaskets from Ford.

Help! After PI swap, runs great cold, chokes as it warms

Well here is the happy ending... I changed the plugs and now all is well. I think they were the originals and they were gapped at .080! They didn't look bad but with 58,000 miles they were due anyway. I used Autolite (no motorcraft in stock anywhere!) coppers and gapped 'em @ .054. I...

Help! After PI swap, runs great cold, chokes as it warms

Thanks I'll check out the MAF tomorrow. I received a couple of PM's stating I should change the plugs because after soaking in A/F they may be breaking up once heated. Thanks to all, Dave

Help! After PI swap, runs great cold, chokes as it warms

I too believe it to be a sensor... I just don't know which one! It runs great till its warmed up! I'll clean up the MAF and test it but I don't see what impact that would have at idle? Dave

Help! After PI swap, runs great cold, chokes as it warms

This is somewhat of a duplicate post. I've greatly enhanced my detail and changed the thread title to be more accurate. Here’s what’s happening: I performed a PI intake swap with non-PI heads on my 98 Mustang GT with 58,000 miles. There is a faded sticker in the front of the engine bay...

New PI Swap, good cold idle, bad hot idle

Ok... performed the Haynes test on the ECT and it tests correct. I'll replace it anyway as soon as I can get to the Ford dealer. When I fire it up cold it runs great. I can drive the snot out of it for about ten minutes till it warms up. Then the idle drops about 300 rpm and its like the...

New PI Swap, good cold idle, bad hot idle

Ok... so which is the ECT? There are two sensors in the aluminum crossover, one on the passenger side (brown) and one directly behind the t-stat (gray). From the wiring schematic, I believe the ECT to be the gray sensor behind the t-stat. Nope, I don't have any scanners. Guess that...
