lowering rear of car w/o blocks (long)

Another possible lowering 'tweak'? I have 4 1/2 leafs and the front is lowered by 1". The back is just a bit too high IMO. So I was thinking of sliding these in between the perch and the leafs just to lower it by the thickness of these plates (about 3/16"?) I would turn the tie downs...

Info leaked on the 2011 GT from Edmund's

With the GT now at 412HP, just imagine what the BOSS version might do. The Dodge Challenger at 425HP, and the Camaro at 426HP... ...how about a BOSS 429 version at ...429HP??? :hail2: (a different interpretation of 429 ...it would be OK with me)

67 Alternator NOT Charging Battery / What's this wire?

Well, the 60A one-wire alternator seems to have done the trick. It kicks out about 14.5v at idle and manages the same with a load on and increases with RPMs, so I guess that's it. Not sure I trust the charging guage in the dash though. ...VR is now disconnected (although I dodn't know what...

67 Alternator NOT Charging Battery / What's this wire?

I've been messing with the car a bit more, and I'm not sure looking for a 'draw' is the issue. Even if there is a small draw somewhere, isn't my first issue to find out why I'm not getting 13.5+ to the battery with the engine running?? To recap: My battery was not charging after putting...

67 Alternator NOT Charging Battery / What's this wire?

BarnStang, I'm back on the project/problem again... A couple of things: There appears to be two 'draws' at the solinoid - the black and yellow wire ring - AND - also a second small red wire ring (not the thick red battery term wire) ...they both go into the same wire harness/bundle, and...

67 Alternator NOT Charging Battery / What's this wire?

Doors closed. No key in the ignition. The reason I asked about the black and yellow wire ring is because the volts drop to zero in the ground when I take it off, and somebody told me that's how you find the problem  How do you test to see if the VR is bad?

67 Alternator NOT Charging Battery / What's this wire?

I have a 67 with a NEW Alterternator, NEW Battery, New VR, and new Solinoid. The Alternator is not sending a chrge to the battery, which stays at about 12.5-12.7 volts. I disconnected the battery ground, and then hooked the DVM up between the ground cable and the ground post. It reads...

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

Update. The alternator was bad. So I just installed a new one. New wiring harness to the alternator as well. Still same result: no charging of the battery. Don't know how to find this problem with a volt meter - what to check to narrow this issue down???

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

I'm going to bench test the new alternaor, but being that it's new, I have a hunch that this might be the bug - if I can trace the wire you are talking about. Do you know the wire for this 'start-up spike' that I should be looking for? ...For that matter, I wonder if I wired/hooked-up the new...

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

I charged it up to 12.7 volts and just drove it to AutoZone. We put it on a machine and it only generated 2-3 amps at 2,000 rpm to the battery. Thought maybe it was a problem with the new voltage regulator, so I swapped the old VR unit back onto the car. 10 minutes later, same result...

9" rear end into 67 coupe

I've never done what your looking to do, but I can tell you that I considered a lot of wheels and tires for my '67 and there isn't all that much room under those fenders to work with - you can play with offsets by about +/- a half inch, but I doubt your gonna find two inches on each side with...

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

The resistance is 1.56 everywhere I check. If I have a bad ground, how do I find it? Update: resistance is at 0.0 with car door closed (inside light off), 1.56 with door open Trickle chrger now has battery up 10 12.9 volts (12.7 volts with car door open and inside light on) Suggestions?

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

OK, here's what I did: Car just sat for a month. Put a voltmeter on it: 12.4 volts. Turned on headlights, down to 12.05 volts. Reved engine with lights on, up to 12.25 volts. So I then changed to a somewhat smaller pulley: Started up at 12.3 volts, lights on, back to 12.04 volts; reved...

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

I'm going to replace the alternator pulley first, and then have it tested. The car also has some left-over March underdrive pulleys (crank and water pump) that have been on since I bought the car. The 3.75-4.0" HiPo pulley was actually larger than the March alternator pulley, so maybe the...

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

I was wondering the same thing. I don't have a guage. (Anything else I should check?) I think I read somewhere that the headlights should get brighter with rpms if the alternator is charging correctly. But then it kinda makes me wonder how the original HiPos ever worked on the street with...

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

Yep. :( Beautiful day. (but hot as hell - 100+ degrees) Car didn't seem to overheat, but after about 45 min of running around in traffic, it just slowly died while idling at the local burger joint. Wouldn't start without a jump after that, and battery seems to be low, as I hooked it up...

Help: '67 HiPo starts, but won't hold idle below 1500

My only issue now is a gas leak from the chrome gas line into the primary bowl... Just unscrew it? Unscrew the chrome fitting first? or leave the chrome fitting alone and uncrew the larger brass fitting that goes into the bowl? Does it require thread-lock or something to reseal everything??

Help: '67 HiPo starts, but won't hold idle below 1500

Update: It does NOT appear to have been a problem with the carb. It was the wrong coil. The car now idles fine with the correct coil back installed. There is still the gas leak coming from the brass lock nut fitting to the primary bowl (the chrome gas fitting goes into this brass piece)...

Help: '67 HiPo starts, but won't hold idle below 1500

First, I'm concerned it may be the ignition, as the post above pointed out, so I'm putting the old correct coil back on for now, to see if that improves how the car runs. But the new gas leak may now be the bigger problem... Regardless, of whether this (new) carb is clean yet (as you seem...
