    351 Cleveland Tuning Issues

Hey all, So I've got a 1970 Mustang with a 351C 2V in it. It blew out the Pertronix Electronic pickups after 3 years of use, so I installed a new Summit Racing HEI dizzy in its place and now I can't get the thing properly tuned! I've got the timing gun hooked up and originally set the timing...

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Thanks for the help gang! Finally got it running again! It was the ignition module inside the cap. Bought a new dizzy from Craigslist that had the electronic module in it and it fired right up no problem. Only thing is that now I think I got the timing off 180 degrees because at #1 TDC, the...

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Alright, so I've bypassed the pink wire and I'm still getting the same situation, 12V to both + and - side of coil and all the way up until the digital replacement for the points Pertonix sells in their electronic ignition kit. What are the chances that this thing is fried? I have noticed that...

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Interesting, on mine there are both a red w/green stripe and a pink wire right next to it. When in RUN, pink has 12V, red-green has 0V. I'm pretty sure red-green is the for the starter, because it gets about 12V when the key is in START, and the pink gets about 7.5V.

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Is there any way I can bypass the switch to determine that it's the fault? I've already got the entire dash taken out from my troubleshooting over the weekend.

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Any ideas as to where the fault could be? I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I don't understand how it could be fine to drive one second and then wont fire immediately after that. Could my ignition switch be going out?

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Found out I was measuring the voltage wrong. With the key in ON position: 12V to I 12V to + and - of coil nothing past that point that I can tell. The frustrating thing is that its very inconsistent. One moment it's reading 12V and the next I've got 0.0. I may just be using my voltmeter...

Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

Hey all, So I've got a 351C 2V stang and we've been fighting recently. I went to a buddies house for the super bowl on Sunday and when I went to leave it just kept cranking and cranking and it wouldn't start. I figured it was the starter solenoid (I think thats what it's called, its the...

How would you build your Mustang?

I say go to town with the aftermarket upgrades. Yes it's an unmolested fastback, but in the end it's just a big hunk of metal that happened to come together a certain way. The way I see it, the most important thing is to build a car that you are proud of 110%. Don't make compromises to please...

    1970 Mustang Transmission Swap

It's great to hear that there is someone else in my shoes. Let me know how the process comes along. And thanks for that website, it has everything!

    1970 Mustang Transmission Swap

After taking the car to a shop about 8 times for warranty repairs they are just now claiming that the case is warped due to heat and that the tranny is on its last legs. Two other shops that I have taken the car too opened up the transmission to check out the problem and they found that the car...

    1970 Mustang Transmission Swap

The 2 tranny shops I have taken it to said that it was a C-6. And it doesn't have to be cheap, I was just wondering what some of the least expensive swaps people have done are, even if they are $2000.

    1970 Mustang Transmission Swap

I have been having a huge problem with my C-6 Tranny for the past 2 years. Long story short I had a bad experience with a rebuilding shop and now after taking it back to them they are suggesting that I completely swap up to a new tranny. I'm not going to pay them one more dime if they cant...

    Drag Strip Issues (W.O.T. Cutout)

Well, every once in a while, the car wont start. It will only turn over, and then after about a minute, it will start, but its not loaded up cause no smoke comes out when it does finally start. So its not getting any fuel for no apparent reason at random intervals.

    Drag Strip Issues (W.O.T. Cutout)

so would an upgraded fuel pump be an easier fix then readjusting the float bowls? I did recently replace the fuel pump and it has been acting up ever since.

    Drag Strip Issues (W.O.T. Cutout)

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that its a stock edelbrock 1406 that had the electric choke removed. Although I bought it used from a friend who didn't know much about it (he never used it) so im not sure what was done to it, if anything.

    Drag Strip Issues (W.O.T. Cutout)

Hmm interesting, I guess I never thought about that, I'll have to get underneath and figure out what has been put in there. I'm gunna start by adjusting the float's and see if that doesnt help.
