    EGR

    Thanks for the great information. As an experiment, I backed off the idle set screw. The whistle is gone. The idle is now a bit slow. I has previously done a mod to the AIC (suggested on this web site) that allows a bit of air to bypass the throttle plate. I may do that a bit more...

    I do have a BBK 75mm throttle body. It is strange that by cracking the EGR open the sound goes away..

    The sqealing occurs only at idle, and will stop if I apply light vacuum to the line that goes to the EGR valve, or speed the engine to over 1000. The diaphram on the EGR valve seems to hold vacuum, without leaking.

    Here is the rest of the story.....I just built the engine, with aluminum ported heads, mild cam, and Fords tubular intake manifold. All sensors are new. The EGR goes thru a BBK 75mm spacer. When the engine idles below 900 it has a loud hi-pitched squeal that sounds like a bearing, or a vacuum...

    What is the net effect of blocking off or removing the EGR system? I've read the threads about emisions, cruise economy, etc, but to those who have done it,(mine is a 91), what has been the real world effect?

    Couple of questions from somebody that just discovered this thread. I'm building up a 302 for a Miata. I have Ford X306 aluminum heads and the Ford E303 cam. I also have Cobra 1.7 roller rockers. Is this a commonly done combination and will be ok, or will I see a short life of the valve...
