Weird problem with 88GT when WOT

Clean your MAF and see if that helps.

pushing in rear caliper on gt brakes, special tool?

That's weird... Mine works fine. The first time I did my rear brakes I tried to hold the caliper in my hand and twist it in. Then I tried it with the top bolt holding the caliper on, so the caliper would stay in place and it was really easy.

pushing in rear caliper on gt brakes, special tool?

That block worked perfectly for me. Even since I realized to leave the top of the caliper mounted to hold it in place while I turn the ratchet, it's been a sinche.

pushing in rear caliper on gt brakes, special tool?

Here's what you're looking for. You're local auto parts store should carry plenty of these. All you need is that tool and a 3/8" ratchet with extension. I've used needle nose pliers and they work but are a real pain in the a$$. Just get that tool and make your life much easier.

First time ever to the track last night

More track time and a better 60' would net you probably a half second quicker. 1.9- 60' is pretty good, but a set of drag radials would bring that 60' down by .1-.2. Add some more experience and you should be able to see mid 12's I think.

    Mod help

What all do you already have done? Do you have an auto or 5-speed? For a 5-speed car, the first few mods you should do: 1. Subframe connectors 2. Gears 3. Aftermarket shifter :cough: Pro 5.0 :cough: For auto: 1. SFC's 2. Gears (preferably 3.73's or lower) 3. Shift Kit All...

should I do it or have a shop do it?

I prefer to do all my own work. But I have a full shop with one 6foot tool box and one 4foot tool box both filled with any tool you can think of, and all the air tools I need. The only thing I'm missing is a floor lift, but I have a good jack and stands. Is this a stroker motor you're...

    General/average cost to rebuild a T5?

If you remove and install the transmission yourself and just have the shop do the rebuild it could be around $300-$400ish. If the shop does the whole job, then it can jump up to $600-$800ish. Just depends on who does it. If you do it all yourself, Summit sells a T-5 rebuild kit for around...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

Again, I don't see any FOX bodies selling for more than what they sold for brand new (exception to the Cobra R and some '93 Cobras and Saleens). When a GT/LX sells for more than what they sold for brand new (stock or modded) then I will agree with you. Again, I never said I was right. Just...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

This is OH SO TRUE! I just started doing an engine rebuild back in spring. It started out just supposed to be a standard rebuild with some GT40P heads I just had laying around and I was going to keep stock cam and rockers. Now I've got a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads and an...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

Another point here... There are A LOT of people that tend to think just because the car is 20 years old, which is technically a classic, means that they are true CLASSICS. This is simply not the case. Again look at the Mustang II's. Those are older than the FOX but really aren't worth much...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

I watch the car auctions quite often, I'm actually a big classic car enthusiast... In my family we have: '22 Model T '26 Model T '30 Model A '34 Ford 5-window coupe (rebuilt this with my dad from ground up) '49 Pontiac '65 Mustang I-6 'vert Now I'm not claiming to be some kind of...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

I still don't understand how you compare a FOX body to a 60's Mustang. So just because a 60's Mustang is getting more valuable means the FOX bodies are becoming more valuable??? Could you explain this to me??? What if I compared the FOX body to the Mustang II?? There is a small market for...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

This is too true. Finding a completely stock 5.0 is near impossible. This is why I say that IF they will be worth money in the future it will be the ones with no modifications whatsoever. It would also have to be very low miles with flawless interior and paint. I still say whoever pays over...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

It just comes down to what you (OP) wants to do with the car. If you think it will be worth a lot of money down the road, and if you plan on selling it in such a scenario then keep it completely stock. I wouldn't even do "reversable" mods. Just let it be, keep the miles low, take care of the...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

Calm down friend... I'm just expressing my opinion. No one KNOWS what will or won't be "worth a lot of money". But IMO, whoever pays $19K for even a completely stock FOX body is . There is just no way they are worth that much money. Not putting down the car itself, just stating what...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

Sorry, man but there is no way you're comparing a plain ol' FOX body GT, LX, or even a Cobra to a Shelby, Mach 1, or Boss. You go ahead and get your hopes up like that. The only FOX bodies that WOULD bring in any money would be the special editions (7-up, Cobra R, Saleen, maybe the standard...

    Exploder 8.8

Honestly, I didn't really feel much of a difference while driving on the street cuz I can hardly get any traction anyways. But when I went to the track for the first time with my drag radials I noticed it would give me a little bit better launches. Once I get my suspension upgraded, I might...

To mod, or not to mod...what do you think??

No offense, but I don't really unerstand this way of thinking. I mean, how much do you think that FOX body will be worth in the future anyways? Did you buy it only hoping that it might be worth big bucks on down the road? Or did you buy it to have fun with it? I wouldn't count on the FOX...
