Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

Here is a interesting one, not a super bad idle issue but definitely did have some effect. I purchased a 88 GT w a dart block 347 stroker, and 11r190 Twisted Wedge heads about a month ago. Last night I took a look at one of the spark plugs and it was a Motorcraft ASF 42CA- the plug Ford...

    Nitrous?

    1. Please explain. Sounds like I have an opportunity for improvement on my N/A time. 2.No question the vette should be running faster on street tires. The guy probably cant drive.

    Nitrous?

Hmmm. Kinda disagree. I spent $550 on a Zex nitrous dry kit and went from a 14.4 at 94mph to a 13.1 at 106 mph. (125HP shot) For me it was worth it cuz I was stomping new, albeit traction limited corvettes and camaros and I am still running stock HCI. I don't think I could have got there with...

    Zex Traction Control Window Switch

To answer my own question I am going to set the nitrous deactivation at the same RPM as the rev limiter and not use the "skip shift" feature that comes with it. Duh.

    EGR vacuum line.

Attempting to install Zex dry nitrous kit. When I went to remove the line that goes from the FPR to the intake manifold for the kit install I found it wasn't there. Instead the previous owner has a line that runs from the vac port on the EGR valve to the vac port on the FPR. The car runs great...

    Zex Traction Control Window Switch

So I am the process of installing a Zex nitrous kit along with their traction control window switch. My question has to do with shift RPM with the new setup. Currently in NA form, my shift light is set at 5000 RPM. Now with the nitrous will my car pull beyond that? Reason being the window switch...

    quad-shock remove?

I ditched mine when I upgraded my rear end but only because the quads were absolutely thundered. I could compress them by hand and the had no rebound. Anyways, I went to the track the other weekedend and was banging off 1.95 60ft times with no wheel hop. I have 3.73s w Steeda lca and steeda...

Coolant heater? Does that even make sense?

Disregard previous question. Upon further inspection water pump leaking through weep hole.:damnit:

Coolant heater? Does that even make sense?

I don't think its a block heater. The block heaters I have seen in the past are inserted where one of the frost plugs typically go.

Coolant heater? Does that even make sense?

Kinda for the ridiculous climate I live in. Anyways my car has a inline 120vAC heater that is located in the lower rad hose that just started leaking. My autometer temp gauge has also indicated an increase in operating temperature from the usual 190-195 to 200-210. Is this a coincidence or is...

    spark plugs

Does anyone have any input on the Denso Irridium plugs? Richard Holdener ran them in the 427 Paxton supercharged motor in last months "Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords"

    Obsolete control arm bolts. WTF!

It just really surprises me that: A. The aftermarket doesn't include the bolts with the control arms. B. The aftermarket says in the instructions to "inspect the control arm bolts. Worn, rusted or pitted nuts and bolts should be replaced with new hardware from the Ford dealer", when the dealer...

    Obsolete control arm bolts. WTF!

Soo I am attempting to install my new Steeda lower control arms and the original bolts are thundered. I went down to both Ford dealerships in town who proceeded to tell me the lower rear control arm bolts are obsolete and they cannot get them. Does anyone have a source for these bolts? I am not...

Weird relay cycling possibly killing battery

Finally got around to troubleshooting my headlight issue. Thanks Hissin50 for telling me where to start. I had pulled the dash originally to find the alarm module, and sure enough did not press in the connector for the headlight switch far enough. Lucky for me it was the first thing I checked...

    budget build?

Subframe connectors or short throw shifter if manual transmission. Subframe connectors take out body roll and are going to make a difference handling wise (street and strip) on a car that is 19 years old like yours. A short throw shifter feels like a clutch and transmission upgrade if...
