Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Welding Holes in My Rear

Guess it depends on what you want. Civilized, well mannered with decent gas milage, or rowdy with an old school hotrod feel? Either would be cool. Joe

Looking for opinions on potential power output and ideas

I tell ya, I'm about ready to drop this forum. I hate social media, this has been as close as I get to it. It seems to me there is a reoccurring theme on here lately, and it seems to be jumping on the new guy, who many times is totally lost and trying to find his way through the car hobby. It...

    Best pistons for my build?

Mike does a great job at explaining the alloys, but there are some other distinctions as to the construction of the piston themselves. I am in no way greatly experienced in this category but have been reading up on as much I can lately. Pistons can be the same alloy but one be much stronger...

Undercarriage Overspray? Factory or possible repaint?

Looks like dirty factory paint that has been beat to death by road grime and rocks. Looks pretty normal to me.

    Tdc and intake change

Either way works, but if you spin the motor over using the mark the distributor method, then your reference is no longer good. If you use the tdc method and spin the motor over for any reason, all you have to do is go back to tdc and your are good to go. Joe

    Fox BMW Swaped 331 Stroker

Custom always best. However, if that is out of the question, I ran and Anderson N41 for a while and really liked it. It will pull good to around 6000-6200, but the heads will definitely support more rpm. Not real up on the drift scene, but I assume sustained high rpms for long periods of time...

    Run on with MSD?

Never heard of that before, but if current is flowing back into the box I would assume you would place it in the 12v power wire. Joe

Do you keep a spare tire in your car?

Don't carry one at all anymore, but a plug kit and a portable 12v air compressor can get you by in most cases. Joe

    Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

Well now you have me confused. Maybe I misread your original post. I believe I did, carry on.

    Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

I have never heard this. My flywheel has interchangeable weights and specified to leave them off if neutral balance. Maybe that's the difference? I alway put internally balanced and neutral (0) in the same boat. Almost certain my pioneer balancer has interchangeable weights too, not 100% on...

Never dealt with liberty, but in have driven a dogringed Gforce T5 and a Gforce 101A, both are non synchronized trans, and it is nearly impossible to miss a gear with one. Joe

Progress Thread Hoopty v2.0 - Back in action!

Did you check the heads and deck for straightness? This guy got so fed up with it that he sold the car. I don't believe it will be as easy as replacing gaskets and turning the boost down. Good luck though, I hope you figure it out. Joe

Build Thread 1978 Mercury Cyclone. The pig is in the pen.

The trunk and duck tail look really good Mike. I know you would never do it, but I almost vote for no hood. I would let the magic be seen. Joe
