Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

Good point - M3's aren't as common as belly buttons (or Mustangs) either.

Do you recommend the 2012 Boss 302 for a daily driven car?

I agree with one caveat: if the Boss is produced in a manner or location that makes it a manual or super-expensive proposition to install those options, then it makes sense to leave them out.

Do you recommend the 2012 Boss 302 for a daily driven car?

The issue isn't whether you can suffer through it, but whether it will work. Absent switching to winter rims/tires, it's not at all wise to be driving a GT or BOSS in < 32F. Since the Boss and Brembo-optioned GT have larger brakes, you'll likely have to go with 18" snow tires, which are less...

Do you recommend the 2012 Boss 302 for a daily driven car?

Cars like this aren't suitable for bad weather. Rain, maybe. Do you live where it rains a lot (like Seattle) or where it EVER frosts or snows? If so, you'll need another car. You COULD get a set of skinny snow tires, but even at that, they'll have to be on 18" rims or larger to get around...

    BOSS 302 question...

If it's still a Mustang, then it's still the same model. GT500, Boss, Bullitt, California, what-e-ver. Is a ZR1, ZO6, Z51, Grand Sport all a Corvette?

    Mustang Gt 5.0...High speed dangerous?

Neither of them are sports cars. Examples of sports cars: Lotus Elise any 2 seat Ferrari Lambo Corvette Porsche Cayman, Boxster and Carrera GT. MAYBE 911; back seat makes it a tough argument though. That's a characteristic of a GT car or sport coupe. Whatever. The label doesn't...

    Mustang Gt 5.0...High speed dangerous?

No disrespect to Mustang, but it is NOT a "sports car". Muscle car, pony car, performance car . . . fine.

    Boss 302 Ford powertrain release

I can't find anything about forged crank. Also, not sure about all the 8k/8.5k rumors; Fordvehicles.com says " . . . up to 7500 rpm". Not that these points really matter; just discussion.

Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

I'm not sure the Germans aren't still significantly ahead in safety. Examples from 335i, just regarding braking: - if you're driving along at a steady throttle opening and suddenly completely let off the throttle, the brakes automatically pre-tighten to remove all slack from the system so...

Beefing up stock brakes, could use some advice

Cross drilled rotors resist fade longer: they provide an avenue for pad gasses and enhance cooling. If you're not experiencing fade, drilled rotors will make no difference.

Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

Makes sense. If a car costs 2x to buy, it's probably 2x for whatever part fails too, and could be 2x to have it put in as well. But, if MONEY was the reason to select one car over another, I'd buy a 17 year old POS for $1k and drive it until it stopped, then go get another one. There is...

Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

Yup, I agree - not talking about gears. I'm talking about actual proven performance. M5 isn't quite as fast as M6, but an easy Youtube search, just taking results off the first page of results for "M5 top speed": YouTube - 2008 BMW M5 Top Speed Run 211mph! YouTube - BMW M5 top speed...

Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

Both the M5 and M6 have (with removed top speed limitation) over 200mph. That's about where an F430 and yea, Lambos too, top out.

    Mustang Gt 5.0...High speed dangerous?

The "problem" with a solid rear axle is that whatever one tire experiences, is transmitted to the other tire. So any time one tire hits a dip/rise/uneven patch, the other tire is moved around loses traction as a result. With an IRS, the tire on the side with the road imperfection is affected...

Watch out Europe... here comes the new 5.0 (M3 vs 5.0)

If you only care about straight line speed, very few cars, including Ferrari, Lambo, etc., can hang with M5/6. But on a road course, M3 is tops of BMWs. GTR does not appeal to me. It's ugly and coarse. I'd take GT500 and my $25k savings and be very happy. Or, I'd buy a Z06 or one year old...

    2012 BOSS 302 - It's Here!

Any guesses on the price of the Recaro/Torsen option?
