    do you consider working on you classic a "break from reality or big hassle" ?

    sounds like everyone agrees,dont set time lines & when it gets to be work stop for a while. the cover is going on mine soon for the winter, time to remodel the bathroom, catch up on some sleep & start again in the spring refreshed & excited again.

    I would agree with ferf, the cowl is a major trouble area that leads to the problems he listed. the cowl is also difficult to replace unless you have pretty good skills & equipment(welder air compressor ect.)

    I just read the last issue of mustng monthly,( at least i think it was in there) borgsen has a steering box that is power steering, & bolts right up to the factory location,& uses stock suspension to give you power steering which would making these classics much more enjoyable to drive any...

    I do think I did pretty good with buying my 289 & C-4 for my 67 fastback, they came out of a 67 fairlane, got both for $600.I guess thats not to bad.

    In 1986 I put a 1971 429 in my 79 bronco, bought the motor for $50,rebuilt it & put it in. Could have bought a 428cj for $400, but didnt have the$$$, so didnt buy. Wish I could get both now.

    Paint issue!! paint peeled when laying stripes

    I didn't see this post until now, but can tell the base is way to heavy. you have to remember the base is only to get the color down. I paint where my stripes go lightly,just to get color,mask them off, paint the rest of car lightly just to get enough color, pull off tape & clear everything...

    I would cut right behind the door post & incorporate the rear door post & wheel well together,cut the roof & floor square across & rejoin them like that. that would eliminate the rear side window & rear seat with the wheel well as the rear door post.

    Yes its solid & a good starting point,& yes they do look fast just sitting there, thats why I like the 67-68 fastbacks so much. thanks for the words of encouragement, & i'll keep you posted on progress.

    That is what mine is. they had a bad gt350 paint job,but none of all the other stuff. I'm blasting every thing down to bare metal & going from there. primed the cowl firewall & floor today. hope to post some pics tomorrow,have to have my son do that, I'm technologically impaired as he says
