Drivetrain Is The Manual Transmission Reliable?

I have a manual 5.0, and mine can be tricky to get into 2nd gear when cold, or when shifting 1-2 at higher rpms. The dealer replaced the fluid with a higher grade under warranty, and that seems to have helped a little. Ultimately, it doesn't seem to be a durability issue yet, more of an...

    Most Fuel Efficient Cruise Speed?

I also have a 5.0 with 3.31s and a manual. While not meant for fuel efficiency, the new 5.0 V8s actually do rather well in that area for the performance they deliver. These cars will get their best possible fuel economy rolling along in 6th on relatively flat ground at the lowest speed you can...

Hey New Here Just A Quick Question?

Test drove a V6, but only actually considered the V8. The new V6 is quick once revved up, but only the V8 will pin you hard in the seat. And no V6 will ever sound like a V8.

Thinking About Buying A 5.0 Would Gears Help Mileage......

I have a 2011 5.0 with 3.31 gears. With ethanol free gas and a smooth driving style, I can get 29-30 mpg with the cruise set at 70 on the highway. If you are stuck with E10, 27-28 would be the top end for a 5.0 on a good day. As for the gears, you can't get 2.73 gears with the V8. And if you...

    Please Post Your Gas Mileage

29.5 mpg on the last tank, with a 5.0 and 3:31s. Mostly interstate @70 mph. Just a few city miles thrown in. And as always, only pure, ethanol free gas.

What All I Need To Bulletproof A '14gt

Fair enough. I'm sure it can be done, but not on the cheap. I just don't think you'll make it to GT500 or Roush 3 territory on a Coyote, and maintain durability at the same time without going into the engine (and transmission) and doing some serious internal upgrades, after which, you'll have...

What All I Need To Bulletproof A '14gt

The MT82 won't handle that kind of power. Its about maxed out in stock form. Are you just looking for power, or do you have a reason to specifically want to do this with the Coyote? With what you'll end up spending to get 600+hp on a GT reliably, you could probably get a GT500, and have a...

    Perell P Zero Tread Life

Those are not the PZero summer tires they are talking about. You have PZero Nero all seasons. I have the summer tires, and I'll be optimistic and hope they last 35-40k miles. I've got almost 9k on them now, and they still have well over half of their tread. My brother has the Zero Nero all...

    New 5.0 87 Octane Vs. 93 - Overall Runs Better On 93?

I usually run 91 in my 5.0. I ran a tank or two of regular through it this last summer for a time, because premium briefly went to as much as 97 cents a gallon higher than regular for some reason. In theory, it makes 10 less horsepower and 13 less torque according to the owner's manual, but...

    Overdrive Unit In A Gt

I don't know that what increase in mileage you'd see would be worth the cost. What rear gears do you have?

Six Weeks With A New 5.0 - Some Observations

I've got similar car, just a 2011. It's a 3.31 car with the 401A package. Overall, I like the interior. Subtle...not showing off, but not cheap looking either. I love the darker metal finish on the dash. I got the 3.31 gears, because a lot of the driving I do is highway driving, and being able...

Thinking Of Buying A Gt -a Few Questions

If you are looking at a 2006, I would definitely recommend the V8 over the V6. The power and torque advantage of the V8 is obvious. The 4.0L V6 in 2006 was fully adequate, but nothing special. The V8 is also smoother, more refined, and about as efficient as the old 4.0 V6.

Base Interior Or Buy Up To Premium?

Congrats on the new 5.0. You'll love it as much years from now as you do now. The 401A interior is sweet, and you can't go wrong with the 3.31s. The lower transmission ratios are pretty aggressive, and provide all the gear you need to have fun, and when it comes time to cruise at 70 in 6th on...

    5.0 "engine tick"

I remember reading about this back in 2011, but haven't heard so much about it recently. Something about some kind of additive in the oil during break-in, and most of the people who had the issue got it when they changed oil early the first time. Most had it go away once it got more broken in...

Base Interior Or Buy Up To Premium?

I sprung for the premium trim + 401A. I pretty much wanted everything the premium trim came with except the leather (satellite radio, sync/USB Port, ambient lighting, myColor, the interior aluminum finish and ball shift knob, leather wrapped steering wheel, and maybe a few other things). It...

    3 Years With A S197 5.0

Three years (almost) on my 2011 5.0 too. Loved every mile, though only 8k miles. I gotta drive it more. Thinking of taking a road trip with it.

Why Do Some Have 4 Guages?

The 4 guages in the 2005-2009 was part of a $4xx interior upgrade package on the deluxe (which also included aluminum finish on the steering wheel and dash, and MyColor). Starting with 2010, that package was no longer available stand alone (base trims can't get it, it became part of standard...

    2011 Gt 6mt 3.31 Rear Acceleration

I don't think most of the other responders here are understanding the situation. There is most likely nothing wrong with your car. If you are crawling along at 5 mph with the clutch all the way out, car pointed straight ahead, and then stand on it, it is not surprising that it won't burn out...

Inspect A 2006 Gt Premium Manual

If you do find a manual car you are interested in in the future, clutch life is very dependent on how the car was driven. For a competent and not abusive driver, a clutch can last the life of the car in many cases. On the other hand, someone who is bad with it, or drives very hard can destroy...

    Factory 5.4 Shelby Charger On A 5.0

Even if it does "work" it probably won't work for long. There is a reason the older modular blocks are still being used for the GT500. Put a blower like that onto the 5.0, particularly with its 11:1 compression ratio, and its only a matter of time.
