Which way is the inlet on bassani mufflers

I believe Bassani's are a straight thru design which means it doesn't matter. If you can see through the muffler then don't worry about it.

I thought our stangs had T-lock

New trac-lok clutch disc rebuild kits are fairly cheap and I'm sure if you ask around someone is bound to know how to put them in. It's really not a hard job and it won't hurt that wallet too bad. If you look in the archives you can learn how to stack the clutches to provide better locking...

Failed Inspection for Uneven Braking, Please Help...

I would just start with the basics. New pads are cheap enough, start with them. While you're putting them in, clean everything in sight and make sure the sliders aren't sticking or corroded. Check the rotors for rust, especially on the inside, if bad-replace them. Then a thorough...

What kind of power does it take to pull the front wheels?

Quite a few years ago, MM&FF took a bone stock 5.0 LX and redid the suspension and chassis for drag racing. With slicks and skinnies that stock (not even a K&N) 5.0 would lift the tires and run low 13's at Englishtown. If I remember right, stock 5.0's dynoed about 175-180 hp on a good day. It's...

I thought the track was supposed to hook harder than the street!

A little finesse goes a long way. A good way to practice is make some runs on the street in the rain. Not full out assualts up to 100 mph (thats just plain dumb in the rain) but some quick sprints up about 1/2 way through 3rd. This will teach you how to feel for traction and know the limits...

    Can't do a burnout

Have him drive around the water box, drop the clutch at 4 grand, spin em up for a couple of seconds and stage. Leave on the last yellow and the rest is up to him!

    Can't do a burnout

Is your friend using street tires? I was taught #1 rule when racing is to steer clear of the water box with street tires. Drive around it and warm the tires slightly to clean off the junk. If you load up street tires with water you never sling it all off so when you stage, the water finds it way...

    drop in or cai?

That's exactly what I did and I think it looks better and works just as good as a FIPK. I even bought them both on ebay for additional savings, I think I have about $50 into it. As for the MGW shifter, I got that too except my wife bought me that for my anniversary - cool, right?

How old is too old for K&N filter cleaning kit?

The oil should be fine but I don't know about the cleaner. I always used Fantastik and it works real well. IMO the K&N cleaner is a little weak, so now I only buy the oil and hit up my wifes cleaning kit for the cleaner.

    Do Your Cars Burn Oil?

My manual says 6 qts which puts the oil right in the middle of the hatch marks on the dipstick. If you fill the oil to the top mark it takes about 7 qts which is overfull. Engines will burn more oil when they're overfull but usually will only burn off that excess. I'd say start from scratch...

    IAC Restrictor Issues

I used a 1/2" copper pipe plug and drilled a 1/4" hole in the middle. Put it in the air hose leading to the IAC. Total cost: 24 cents, time expended: maybe 5 minutes. I needed to let the computer relearn the idle strategy, had some surging for the first minute or so. Why go to all the trouble...

"Check Engine Soon" after LT install...

The reason LT's are not emissions legal is because they put the cats too far from the engine and they don't light off properly. The computer is looking at both O2 sensors (per bank) and comparing them. If the computer does not sense the correct values from the O2's, which it won't because the...

Steeda Timing adjuster causing a bucking-surging problem

I had 3 5.0's that did the same thing everytime I bumped the timing and ran 93. Basically I just learned to live with it and tried to stay out of that rpm range. Can be real annoying but the performance gain IMO was worth it. Haven't done any timing mods in my 4.6 cause I'm a cheap F and won't...

    '04 Disc Pads - Ceramic?

I was wondering the same thing. They have to be, no brake dust whatsoever even after 2 weeks of no washing. My wifes 02 Expedition has semi-met and gets brake dust after a week of driving. Of course it uses a lot more brake pad getting that barge to stop.

    Mustang wheels on Police Interceptor

Yes, the wheels will physically bolt on but the offset is all wrong. The wheels stick in too far and look like hell unless you use some spacers. Go to crownvic.net and check out the million or so posts on the subject. BTW, same problem with Marauder wheels on an older Panther. Starting in 03...

How heavy duty of an impact wrench?

Yea, I have one of those. It's marginal at best. It won't break loose tight lug nuts so IMO it's not heavy enough. It's ok on light stuff but not up to suspension work. I bought a better gun for that.

    Rear suspension noise

My car has developed a loud banging noise. It happens on fairly large sharp bumps and is worse when the suspension is loaded on the right side (going around a left hand corner). Obviuosly the noise is on the right rear and it sounds almost like metal to metal. I put the car on the lift and...

    my headlights suck!

I take my car to a dark parking lot and use the lines to adjust my headlights. I put them where I want them, and where they'll put the most light on the road before they start getting dim from being too high. The 99-04's have a very abrupt cutoff thats why I suggest using a parking lot, the...

    17 years difference

5800 is too high on a bone stock car, you're already well past peak. Next time out try yanking the handle a little sooner and see if that helps.
