differential-related, imo what fluid you using in the diff? did you add any friction modifier? Based on symptoms, it sure seems like the diff is winding up, then releasing the axle (thus the wheel hop you're seeing) any other modifications to the diff?

this type of issue seems common - my fix - Coil! bad miss starting at about 3500-4K - turned out to be the MSD coil. Stock replacement and car runs fine now.

one suggestion... been through a very similar experience - turned out to be the MSD coil. Replaced with a stocker from Oreilly (the "better" one) and all problems solved! note that prior to replacing coil, we replaced: dizzy (bought a new Mallory) TFI plugs wires ...only thing...
