    Engine Leakdown and Compression results

It’s hard to say. This hiss is audible, but not overly loud.

    Engine Leakdown and Compression results

1985 302 HO with original heads, Weiand intake, Holley 600 CFM carb, headers and 3” exhaust. A little confused by my leakdown and compression test results. A couple of the cylinders with lower compression have hood leakdown results. These both were dry, cold tests. I know results are better...

    302 Vibration

Yes, fresh rebuild. Maybe only 100 miles on it. I’ve added a video of it running.

    302 Vibration

I verified casting while I had it apart. It is possible that someone swapped out the crank to a 28 oz at some point I guess. I never verified the crank part number.

He specializes in classics, though he hasn’t worked on a II before.

    302 Vibration

I have 302 HO out of a 1985 Mustang in my II. Just recently finished restoring the car. The engine was built with a mild cam, Weiand intake, Holley 4bbl carb, Hedman headers. The transmission and torque converter were just rebuilt a mouth ago and I have a 141 tooth 50 oz imbalance flexplate from...

    Transmission Whine

Spun bushing in the pump housing was the issue. The tranny is being rebuilt.

    Transmission Whine

I pulled it and took it to a local transmission shop for tear down. I’ll update here with prognosis so others that may have V8 a similar issue can see what I found.

    Transmission Whine

    Yep, type F.

    Transmission Whine

Yes, I pulled it last weekend and verified that last weekend.

    Transmission Whine

Transmission still has an issue. Finally got my transmission fluid level right after reassembling everything post rear main seal replacement. But I still have a prominent whining noise coming from the transmission. Louder is reverse but there in all gears. Didn't have an issue before I pulled it...

    C4 issue

C4 tranny question. I put a quart in the converter before installing it. I then added about 4 more quarts (which read as “overfull”) before starting it and running through the gears. So, it has about five total quarts in it. After running through the gears a few times and the car warming up...

    Engine Rear Main Cap marred?

I pulled my 302 apart this weekend to install a new main seal. It seems to be leaking at the bottom of the main seal (I’m certain it’s the main seal and not the pan gasket). I pulled the rear main cap off to make it easier to replace the sleeve and when I did, I noticed that it has a chip of...

Engine Rear Main Seal Sleeve Removal

While pulling my new, but leaking, main seal, the sleeve I had put on was bent a little. Figured I would go ahead and put another on taking no chances. Anyone have a trick for getting a sleeve off?

Engine New Rear Main Seal leaks

Has anyone used any type of sealant around the outer seal lip? Turns out my new seal was leaking along the bottom outer lip.

    Engine Piston surface damage

So, a piece of small metal was sucked in through my intake and got into the cylinder. I pulled the head off and there isn't any scoring in the cylinder, the valves are fine, no leaking, the rings are fine, nonleaking, but the piston surface was beat up. See pic. Thoughts on how I should proceed?

Engine New Rear Main Seal leaks

No, I just used threadlocker, not sealant.

Engine New Rear Main Seal leaks

    Yes, I did. Threadlocker blue.

Engine New Rear Main Seal leaks

Just got my 1985 302 HO back running after pulling the tranny to replace the rear main seal Fel Pro seal BS40620 and repair sleeve 16250. The first time I start it and it’s leaking worse than before the repair. Any thoughts? If I have to go through all of this again, I want to make sure it’s right.
