92 2.3L vert tach & water temp gauge issues

I have a dimmer switch issue that causes my gauges to work but not read correctly. If the lights are on it reads high on everything. When there off it reads low on everything. As long as it runs I really dont care what they say.

I need performance help with my 87 2.3

Which one? Mine or the others? Mine is pretty simple. Its a 2.5 with Crower sportsman rods, Weisco flat top pistons, turbo head mildly ported with a Crower .422 lift cam, stock roller rockers, still hydraulic, mildly ported lower, gutted upper, ported stock exhaust manifold with a stock...

    gt40 help? intake

Id go with the Explorer intake. Only issue there is that your air temp sensor may or may not work. You can either drill the lower like everyone I know or you can drill the upper and flip the sensor. Either way it beats the crap out of an even ported stock lower. You still have to run the stock...

    333 and 347 short blocks

I have 2 built short blocks ready to go. The first is a 347. Roller 302 block .030 over, Wheeler 4340 3.4 stroke crank, Eagle H beam rods, Lunati forged dome pistons. Balanced to a 28 oz balancer and flex plate. The rods and pistons are used but where checked before any work was done. I also...

I need performance help with my 87 2.3

The only difference is that they run a crank trigger so there is no provision for the distributor. Depending on what year your car is that matters along with the fuel pump. You could easily (depending on your mechanical ability) swap the ranger internals to an older small main block. I wish I...

I need performance help with my 87 2.3

The basics are the easiest. Bo Port and Esslinger both sell hydraulic cam kits for a decent price. Shaving the crap out of the head works well. You can take off .110" safely. Larger valves, a modified efi lower with the Esslinger adapter, 500cfm Holley, a decent header and exhaust, maybe some...

    Power mods and engine ?'s

Do you honestly think they went into all that crap at the factory? No....... If what your saying is true, which to a point in theory is true, than nobody in there rite mind would ever cut a cat off there car. Everyone in the free world with a car would pass every emissions test ever, and you...

    Power mods and engine ?'s

Whats the question? Cats or no cats? I dont understand how you figure that an internal combustion engine works but your off just a touch. I have never in my life seen a restriction in the exhaust help the flow of it. Even a turbo hurts you to a point. But as I said before Im not a rocket...

    D port or oval port

They came on the mid 80s cars. There all basically the same. Your going to need some epoxy or JB weld to fill in the injector holes.

    D port or oval port

Not rite off but you can make one out of the efi upper. Just measure up from the base about 2"s and cut it flush. Grind out the center and drill and tap the 4 holes for the studs and there it is.

    Oiling Question

I run one in a solid roller head at the local dirt track. The solids dont need the oil that a hydraulic does. If you have a hydraulic head even a roller leave it be. It installs in the head on the drivers side where the sending unit goes. I hope I helped.

    D port or oval port

I sounds pretty good. Id upgrade to an efi lower with an Esslinger 2bbl Holley adapter and stick a 350 or 500 Holley on it. Or use the Esslinger intake a Holley 2bbl. The cam sounds pretty good. Anything over stock is a help no matter whats been done to it.

    Power mods and engine ?'s

Wow. I just read this whole long winded argument on converters. Wow. If you want power out of your 2.3, ditch the entire exhaust. It sucks. Get a decent header from Speedway, Racer Walsh, or Schofield, take the car to the nearest muffler shop and get a decent 2.25 set up on it. If you want it...

    D port or oval port

head It depends on the combustion chamber. I always go for the D port heads. The D heart is the most desired for the n/a guys and the D D is the turbo head of choice. Ive ported both. The oval has no more iron than the D and it sucks on the flow bench with stock valves. Depending on the cam and...

I guess Im supposed to post

A little about me rite? Ive been buy, selling, collecting, racing, and trading Mustangs for about 10 years or so now. I build custom race engines and currently drive a modified 4 banger 93 hatch. Mods are cam, head port, intake gutted, manifold ported, 2.5 stroker, and turbo. Its been a 15.40 @...
