93 Cobra Wheels, Factory Vs Repro Question

So, I've got a 90 LX Notch 5.0 with the factory 10 hole wheels. Boring... I've found a very nice looking set of 93 Cobra wheels, with almost brand new tires,,, $450 for the set ! Sounds like a pretty good deal, cause I think the reproduction ones are about $125 a wheel. So it would be like...

Swapping Out All 4 Rear Control Arms, Questions

tca7291,,, Thanks, wish I could say I scored the elk that those antlers came from, but the truth is, a neighbor gave us those several years ago. Least I could do is display them properly for him.. gearheadboy, I was originally thinking of swapping in new aftermarket control arms, but it...

Swapping Out All 4 Rear Control Arms, Questions

Well, its all finished. Had to go out and buy an 18mm socket and wrench. Never fugured it would be metric. Anyway, it went pretty well. I did the jack up one side and remove the opposite spring trick, worked perfectly. Also used a trick I saw on utube for getting the old bushing out of the...

Thanks Gearheadboy,, thats basically the was I was going to do it, just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. And, yes Iwill be replacing the bushings in the rearend housing as well. Swapping Out All 4 Rear Control Arms, Questions

Hey guys, I just need a litte advise from someone who's done this. I'm pulling the rear control arms to install new bushings. So far I have the car up on 4 jack stands, removed the wheels, the swaybar, and the quad shocks. And probably one of the hardest parts of this, I have gotten all the...

    90 Notch Front suspension clunk

Update: Only slop I could find anywhere was the wheel bearings seemed to have a little slop. When I removed the cotter pin and the lock washer thingy, I could unscrew the axle nut by hand. There was really no preload on the bearings at all. I repacked the bearings and snugged them up a little...

Rear upper and lower control arm bushing

Are the upper and lower rear control arm bushings replacable ? Or do you have to buy new control arms. I seem to have quite a bit of slop in the bushings. I crawled under the back of the car with a flahlight while my wife rocked the back of the car side to side. I could see slop in the...

    90 Notch Front suspension clunk

My 90 foxbody has got some kind of a "clunk" noise in the front suspension. It seems to happen most often when turning, or really just starting a turn from going straight. Doesn't happen every time so its hard to make it make the noise, if you know what I mean. I've been under the car and I cant...

My 90 Notch is running cold - normal ?

So i've only had my notch about a month or so. I've noticed that it's a little slow to warm up, and it never gets above around 140 according to the gauge. See picture. This is how she runs all the time. Is this normal for a 5.0 ? Or should I be pulling and replacing the thermostat ? Thanks

Build Thread My Never Ending 89 Notch Thread

Dude, that thing is sweet looking. Kind of thinking about the same wheels for my 90 notch but I may have to wait a while till I have the cash. Where did you get your repro 93 wheels, and what size tires are you running on them ?

Turns out my "totally stock" Notch is not quite as stock as I thought

I used a headlight polishing kit made by Rainex. I've used it before on the wifes car with fair results. I think I found the secret when doing the mustang lights. The little sanding pads in the kit are too fine if your lights are really yellowed bad. So on the mustang I started out sanding the...

Turns out my "totally stock" Notch is not quite as stock as I thought

Actually the stereo was the second thing I did, first was the clutch cable/quadrant. I also spent some time polishing up the old yellowed headlights. Heres a before and after.

"that is some very blue interior" Yes it is a lot of blue, heres a pic of the dash. At least theres a little black in there. Also note, my first mod was to dump the old pioneer cassette player in favor of a new Kenwood cd player with usb for my ipod.

Turns out my "totally stock" Notch is not quite as stock as I thought

I didnt' know they came with headers. What ever they are they're probably not stainless cause they are pretty rusty. And, yes the car still has the smog pump. Just had an emissions test last week so I could get my plates, and the car passed with no problem.

Turns out my "totally stock" Notch is not quite as stock as I thought

So I haven't found anything too strange yet, but I was under the car yesterday installing a new clutch cable and quadrant, so I rolled my creeper back to the rear to look at the mufflers. They say "Magnaflow" on them. Hmmm, maybe thats why its got such a nice sound to it. And a bit later when I...

Ever do something really stupid ? Washed my engine, now wont start

Well, it looks like I lucked out. I let it dry out for a couple hours, then checked several electrical connectors under the hood, unplugged to see if they were wet inside. They were not, also checked under the rubber boot thats on the dist, and it was dry, so I got in and it fired right up...

Ever do something really stupid ? Washed my engine, now wont start

So I been tinkering with my 90 Notch this weekend. Installed a new clutch cable, aluminum quadrant, and firewall adjuster. Worked out great I love the way the clutch pedal feels now. So while I was working I was thinking, this thing is really greasey. So today I got a can of engine degreaser...
