i tried today jumping at solenoid. starter engaged. i think thats fine. then i used key, and pressed clutch it started right up. so what is this problem? not the starter, not the ignition switch?

I have noticed when i press the clutch down, sometimes i need to repeat that step to get the starter to engage. now i can only push start. does this have anything to do with ignition switch, or is this starter issue?

Yea this time i didnt put a half turn pre load. maybe a1/8 to a 1/4 max. finger tight, and just a tad more. It seems to be running better geometry. no more binding. but i have a little bit of extra grumble in the exhaust when i shift. it also sounds like its laboring a bit up hill.
