What size Vortech is that? I assume it is an S-Trim or bigger.. those are sweet numbers, I'd be happy to put down the initial numbers you put down on your first run.
400 isn't a bad motor, with a H/C/I package, it would make decent power, my dad has one in his 78 F250, tows pretty decent and runs good, everyone I've talked to says it is a boat anchor, but to each their own. :)
Only reason really to go carb is for a bigger motor on a budget, a 351 based or big block engine is very cheap if you put a decent intake and carb on it.. just my two cents, I wouldn't carb a 302 or 306.. don't carb it, blow it. :)
Big Block Fox :D
Do some research out there, there is a lot of potential, for a pretty decent budget for power out of a 460 based block.. I have an 89 F250 with a 460, thats going to turn into a 513 that goes in my fox. :rlaugh:
What kind of seats to you guys have? I am trying to get to around 2800 (without my 245lb self) I have no bumpers, no back seats, no sound deadener, two plastic Summit Racing vinyl covered seats (like 3lbs each) and the normal alum. driveshaft, alum. heads, weld rims, big and littles..
Those Nittos suck in the dry much less the rain, I REALLY wish I had bought ET Streets, they came out right after I bought my set of Nittos.. the tread only lasts if they hook, which they don't, and you tend to burnout everywhere.
POS in my opinion.
I paid $6500 for my car, and when I bought it did had most of the aftermarket stuff (blower, h/c/i/, gears, cowl, efi stuff) but NO lights at all worked, the alternator was not hooked up, and when hooked up did not work. It was just a bunch of little stuff, but I'd trade my car for that :)
My dad has a 400 in his 78 F250, runs like a dream. It has pulled a skidloader I used at my house, which was like 10k lbs, and the trailer that was like 5k lbs.. towed just fine 80mph up the highway.
If your staying small, the cheapest bang for your buck would be to go with lower gears. 4:10s or 4:30s would work pretty decent. GT40 irons can give good gains with some port work. With traction, gears, NOS, and a good launch should easily be in 12's.
Well, with a 10 second street car, your looking at a lot of money. Your most likely going to need an aftermarket block, 1 or 2 big turbos, 50#+ injectors, two 255lph pumps, fuel rails, and then something to tune it with.
