Thanks MADMUSTANGER! I'll look for that.

    Drivetrain Not So Good Vibrations

OK, I've eliminated (I think) everything but the output bushing. I'm gonna clean up the governor while I'm at it, since the tranny is shifting a little funky and the TV cable is adjusted correctly. I have a question on the output shaft. Since my speedo reads 20% (of reading) high, I was gonna...

    Looking For A Pic

Forgive me if this is not the correct place for this request. I'm looking for an image of the front of a Fox Body. All black, with smoked one piece headlights, a Stalker bumper cover (I will remove the emblem and fill in the grille) and a cowl hood (3" max). Google turns up thousands of...

    Drivetrain Not So Good Vibrations

I checked with the trans in neutral, ass up, and nothing appears to be loose. All drive shaft flange bolts are nice and tight. There is no unintended movement in the u-joints. I don't know how to tell if its a tail shaft bushing, I may shotgun that. As a note to myself: someone told me to...

Please Help Me Find My Oil Drain!

Thank you. I wouldn't have thought of that. I will try to check everything mentioned this weekend. I changed the plugs earlier this year, they were a little wet, but not fouled. Even so, I know they should be dry. I'm thinking I should do the pressure tests again too.

    Drivetrain Not So Good Vibrations

Thank you. I may be able to get under the car this weekend. I'll make a checklist of everything here and anything else I can think of. I'll post what I find. Thanks everyone for your input. I'm a capable technician, but it always helps to have insights from others.

I agree, simple stuff that will bite you in the ass, first. But I gather from these responses, that its probably not in the pumpkin?

    Drivetrain Not So Good Vibrations

Thanks guys. The vibe is about 60Hz at 70mph, about the same pitch as the electric hum of a fluorescent light. Only it can be felt in the floorboard also, faintly. I will check all that stuff, but like I said, I replaced both u-joints, and nothing changed. I'll post up what I find.

Please Help Me Find My Oil Drain!

Lol, I have my option already: '96 351W shortblock. Eventually it will be a 408, but right now I'm pondering the cost of saving my 5.0 vs buying h/c/i and the swap items for the 351. Add the other things like rockers, valve covers, etc and I just don't know right now. Maybe the best thing...

    Drivetrain Not So Good Vibrations

Hey everyone. I'll cut to the chase: 1991 5.0 LX AOD with 4.10 gears (installed by prev owner) I have a speed (not RPM) related vibration. It's not really pronounced until about 65 mph. After that, it just gets louder an higher pitched. It seems to be coming from the middle of the car...

Please Help Me Find My Oil Drain!

Well, that sucks. Thanks for the tip though. I will check the pressure, I have some USGs lying around. I'm sure I have one with the required range. FWIW, the stock oil pressure "gauge" reads on the low side, and down to about a quarter of the range at a stop light. I know the stock pointer...

    Computer And Engine Issues

So I was right about the transistor. It took hours for me to find this schematic, but here it is. In the lower right corner (colored in red) is pin 17, hot in start and run. If you follow it back, you see the transistor (Q10). I did draw the circle around it, because transistors are supposed...

    Computer And Engine Issues

Update: I probed pin 17 at the computer (STO, CEL) and in start and run, it maintains battery voltage, like it's supposed to. When I initiate the self-test via the jumper, I believe the computer runs it because you can hear the clicks and hum of the computer doing stuff. However, the computer...

    Computer And Engine Issues

OK, had some time to mess with it today. Here is what I found: My car (VIN says it's a '91) has some different colors than what these diagrams have, but the pinouts are the same. That same diagram on alldata doesn't designate wire colors; maybe that's why. 1) SIGRTN to ground is good. 2)...

    Computer And Engine Issues

Update: still need to do a couple wiring checks, but I did see the problem with the timing. Previous owner had it at 28 deg initial!!! And I've been running 87 octane! So when I pulled the spout connector, it went from 30 to 28, and I didn't catch it. I set it at 12, that may make a...

    Computer And Engine Issues

Thanks for the info! I did check the circuits for continuity, but you mentioned a couple I didn't do. Of note, I saw no signs of damage on the computer, and the car runs good, except for the fumes. I'll do some more snooping tomorrow and post up what I find. Thanks again! Edit: I forgot to...

    Computer And Engine Issues

I read the stickies, and I searched, but couldn't find an exact match for my problem. Well, the cars problem. There is no fixing mine ;) 1991 5.0 LX AOD. Supposedly rebuilt 306. 130k miles; less if it really was rebuilt. Supposed E303 cam (sounds stock to me). Trick Flow Street Burner intake...
