Thought I would start a build thread on my fox since I have been making some progress lately.
Here it is the day I brought it home about 2 and half years ago. $1600 running and driving. 180k miles bone stock.
I bought it as a project but shortly after that my truck was stolen so I ended...
All you need is the mass air harness itself, the part that plugs into the maf sensor and has 4 wires coming from it. It's not too difficult. Your car is a manual right? That computer won't work in an auto
My car is 100% streetable and nowhere near the single digits but I trailer it to the track because if I break an axle, grenade my tranny slamming 3rd gear or whatever may happen, I'd rather not mess around with trying to get ahold of a buddy with a trailer or call a tow truck.
Honestly, I got my fox because it was what I could afford. And then I fell in love with it. I would really love to have a 99/01 mineral gray cobra someday but I have never felt more comfortable in any other car than I do in my 87.
Mine are black. Only because the previous owner of my car didn't bother to tape anything off when he spray painted the whole car, including the mirrors and windows .
I think the no spoiler is what kills them for me. A GT or Cobra style spoiler would be sweet. Notchbacks with saleen spoilers look too much like an MR2 for my tastes
I have bbk longtubes and o/r h pipe with flowmaster 10s dumped. Its pretty much like sex.
Install isn't too bad on them either. Get a buddy to help you with the h pipe and you shouldn't have a problem at all.
I was at a pull a part today. Only seen one mustang, a 93 vert 2.3. I managed to find 11 5.0 exploders and only 1 still had the top end. Grabbed the heads, p heads, and intake for $150
The main harness to the ecu runs through the passenger side firewall, that would be where I would run it. You can see it pretty easily from the engine bay. It's a little bit of a pain to get to from the inside but it's manageable
I'm a very brand loyal person and a die hard ford guy. But I'm also realistic and honest and the LS motors are very impressive. I'll never own one due to my stubbornness but they are definitely great engines.
Have you checked your fuel pressure? Pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if there is fuel in the line, if there is its bad.
Also, what is your timing set at?
Not sure if your 03 is modded, but the new v6 will probably give your current car a good run for its money stock for stock. The new sixxers are no joke
You won't need a new harness or ecu. They can both be used on the 351.
I have heard there are a few 5.0 longtube headers that work on the 351 and some don't. But there are also a few special headers designed for a 351 swap into a fox.
I'm not doubting high hp street cars at all, especially with more cubes. I just think that making 500rwhp NA out of a 347 might be difficult to do without losing some street manners.
I personally know of a 2011 5.0 with a Paxton setup making 850hp and the guy drives it about 80 miles per day...
Yes. You want a '94 and up block because they are the only ones set up for a roller cam, although you can convert an older block. 500rwhp is doable with a 331 or 347 stroker and spray or boost but with a stock block it will just be a ticking time bomb. You can buy an aftermarket 302 block such...
