Ignition Problems with my 70 Stang

I've got my own starting issue so I'll just add. I'm starting to suspect my pertroinix, again. The 1st one I put in ran about 3 years then when the car warmed up it would start to miss/run rough. This 1 is 4 years old and the car has developed a hot start problem. Will just crank and crank...

    Taking Apart 1965 Distributor

My mechanical advance was frozen and I'm trying to fix. I've got it moving but have to take the cam portion off the shaft so I can get it moving better. I removed the clip under the lube wick. Does the cam portion just slide up now? Got an exploded view of the parts? It is still too gummed up...

    welding perches/setting pinion angle

I picked up a 9" rear for my 65 but have to weld on perches since it was modified for a 40 ford. Should I bolt it in place, tack weld perches and then drop and finish? What's the angle or should I just measure the existing 8" angle and put the 9" at the same?

    Drag racing issues

Seems like there should be some more left in it but not much by the mph, maybe check the timing and advance. My times are with an open diff. and 3.0 gears with almost the same combo are in sig. I've got cheapo bolt on slapper bars which were needed to get rid of my very bad wheel hop. My...

Flowtech long tubes, 302, T5 fit

I'll post some PICS when I get a chance but there is no issue with the hyd clutch or clearance to the fork. This will be the same on your 68 since it's not related to the body. They (p/n:32102) hang lowon mine and sometimes hit because I have the early pre mid-65 engine mounts which put the...

    65 brake light switch problem

I have a strange issue with the brake lights staying on some times. I figured it was the switch so I changed that but it still does it intermittently. I don't see any return spring on the pedal, is there supposed to be one? There doesn't appear to be anyway to adjust it so I'm stumped. I...

To tint or not to tint

I have 35% on mine and glad I did it, keeps the black interior a lot cooler in the summer. Even looking through back and side windows you can still see through.

    Inside Doors - Body color?

I found pile carpet at summit and jegs. Trim parts is the manufacturer, here's there site. Cheapest I've found is Summit $134 http://www.trimparts.com/pages/carpet.asp?itemid=627&cmodid=164&year=1965&itemcount=2&ctype=search...

    Inside Doors - Body color?

Gotta love that loop style carpet:rolleyes: , it's ripped up right now and I plan to replace with a pile cut carpet which should hold color and look better IMO. Windows are tinted now also

    fuse block

Can someone post what each fuse is for in the stock fuse block? I have a schematic I got here but it doesn't clearly show the wiring through the fuse block. My problem is no courtesy/interior lights but the guage cluster and gauge lighting works, just no lights under dash and doors, it was working

6x9 rear speaker grille options for 65-66

Did a search and didn't turn up much in this forum so I figured I'd start a thread. I'm looking for rear deck options 6x9's that looks good and isn't very expensive. Post pics of it installed if possible. Right now I have no speakers and just a piece of black cardboard. Don't care about 3rd...

4 speed versus 5 speed trans

Doing the T5 was the best thing for my car, with 3.0 gears it dropped from 3K rpm @ 70 to 1800. Makes the car so much nicer to cruise on the highway. And as far as them being weak, mine is from my 88 which has 150K mi and was launched at 6K rpm on slicks over 100 times. Mine seems...

My turbo build: 1970 Mustang Grande

I'll be following along too, hoping to do something similar. I've got the same torched holes on my shock towers for the grease fittings, was a common practice.

    I have 2 questions:

Bullit I found p/n: HW1300 at CJs for 64-73. I'm no expert on the older(pre-HO) motors but it seems like it should work. It's only 8 bucks so worth a shot.

    I have 2 questions:

Joe, Should be all set if you get a late model pointer then. If you get one of the slotted adjustable ones you're going to need to buy or make a piston stop to find TDC. I replied to your post on LMMC how to do this. It's a good idea to check anyway, at least you don't have to move the...

    I have 2 questions:

It's going to depend on what waterpump you have on. The 289 had the pointer on the drivers side which was part of the 66 cover. A late model had the pointer on the passenger side but if you used the 66 waterpump with the lower hose on the pass. side then it covers up the pointer and the timing...

    HEIDT's Rear 4-Link& sub-frame connectors

My friend and I were discussing the Heidt's and wondering about instant center adjustment. It looks like there is a 2nd set of holes for the upper link but not sure about the bottom. Just wondering about peoples thoughts on this subject?

    Timing and total advance ?

I sprayed some penetrant down in the hole under where the rotor goes on because that's where it should rotate from the shaft attached to the dist gear. Car runs OK just that I'm going to a drag day on Fri. and won't be able to fix before then probably, I'll just set full advance and plug the...
