    If you want cheap performance in the 86 5.0 is E7 heads and port them. and then get a mild cam. You will be rockin!

    those 79 front noses are pretty hard to get, no manufacture sells that I have looked. so i would keep it the way it is rather than destroying it.

    and you will need to get a 8.8 rearend and a tranny that handles a 5.0 like a C4, AOD, T5.

    I would get a 88-93 5.0 HO and then convert it to carb, those years are ideal plan for you. parts will be really easy to mod with those years. good luck.
