    I went from 3.08 to 3.45 in my 1984 Mustang GT and I definitely felt the difference.

    I'd be concerned about the torque a 351 will generate compared to the original 260 those mounts were designed to support. Keep in mind that Ford did not consider them acceptable for use with the 289 HiPo, which got a different set of mounts.

    I would think you would be better off with the 1966 and later mounts vice the 1963 Falcon mounts as far as strength goes.

    Yes, need lots of photos! Especially underneath such as the floor pans and frame rails. A photo of the engine would help identify things too.

    If it's just lacquer, you can soak a cloth with lacquer thinner, and it will dissolve it.
