Driveline Shudder in 2000 Mustang GT

Great job guys and thanks for the advice....you hit the nail right on the head. Turns out the COP on the #6 cylinder went bad. It was misfiring and ended up fouling the plug. Had the COP and all the plugs replaced (preventive measure), and now she purrs like a kitten. Also had the other COP's...

Driveline Shudder in 2000 Mustang GT

Heya folks, I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me out. I have a completely stock 2000 Mustang GT 5-spd with 89,750 miles. The car has been fairly bullet proof with the exception of an IAC that went bad and kept stalling the engine whenever I pushed the clutch in, and a corroded fuel...

How fast will these beasts be?

I highly doubt the new Cobra will hit .99G. An 05 Mustang GT can only do .81 GT (per Motor Trend, June 05). To get the SRA to pull 1G and compensate for the extra 350 lbs up front, it would mean revisiting the 1987 GT in terms of ride quality. I think the GT500 will be lucky to pull anything...

    O5 GT wheel hop?

And out the window goes the main reason for not including the IRS.

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

Ford's doing the same thing. Ford 500/Mercury Montego. Ford Explorer/Lincoln Aviator. Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator. Badging is a reality of all the automakers. Heck, even the Japanese do it. Nissan 350Z/Infiniti G35.

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

For one...who said the Dodge Charge was going to cost 45 grand? Considering the Dodge Magnum has an a base MSRP of 22,500, I don't know where you're getting the 45 grand number. Heck even the Autoweek article quoted a price of 25,000 (hmmm, Mustang territory).

    Info on future V6 engine

The thing is, those companies embraced those technologies a long time ago, and now it's run of the mill for them so the impact on overall cost is minimal. Even their most pedestrian offerings from Honda, Toyota, and Nissan have things like VVT. While they were busy pushing the performance...

    05' Mustang vs 350Z

You mean like stripping the fenders, throwing in some lake pipes, and slapping on some Halibrands. And how about a flame job to complete the look.

    05' Mustang vs 350Z

What's so different about what they're doing versus what our grandparents did? Taking a mundane run of the mill pedestrian vehicle and turning it into a real performer. So what if our parents started it (though it can't be argued otherwise), the current generation is only continuing the...

    2005 Mustang Specs Clarification...

Geez, I remember people throwing a hissy fit when Ford re-rated the 5.0L from 225 to 205 in 1993. Anyways, it's no secret that the whole ugliness with the Cobra was a serious black eye to both Ford and SVT.

Dodge really muffed the new Charger

Given the success of the Magnum and the 300C, if a Charger did come to pass, then look out, the Mustang will have a real tough time of it.

    05' Mustang vs 350Z

Wow...your grasp of obvious modern day commercials is just...BRILLIANT. My point was that the deuce wasn't a hot rod either. It's what people did to it in the 1950's that made it a hot-rod. It's the same thing that people are doing today with Civics.

    Autoweek 05 Review

Point taken. And I think that's the general jist of what the review says. "Hey's it's 300 hp for 25 grand, you're not going to do much better." But the point they also make is that at a time when the Mustang's direct competitors have all these features and cost only slightly more, there's really...

    05' Mustang vs 350Z

And I'm sure an original deuce with a factory flathead really burned up the quarter.

    Info on future V6 engine

Exactly. It's that cheaping out on details for the sake of lower prices that keep plaguing the manufacturers. It comes down to value, or perceived value. Peopl would be willing to pay a little extra if they saw value in it. So I think Ford could have gone the extra mile with things such as IRS...

    Autoweek 05 Review

"Pussified"? Oook. Man...somebody tell those L88 Vette drivers they're driving a pussed out car. Anyways, besides myself, I don't think any of the reviews view the live-axle as a "horrific" issue. I do think it was a serious mistake for Ford to not even offer it as an option. If...

    05' Mustang vs 350Z

Well...time to get with the times...bcause the Evo's, the WRX's, the Civics etc...they are today's hot rod's. What kids are doing with those cars today is what our parents did with T-buckets and Deuces. It's what we did with 5.0 Liter LX's and Z-28's. Four doors or not, there are people...

    05' Mustang vs 350Z

It's kind of funny to see Mustangers get their noses out of shape. It's like somehow the Mustang and Ford are infallible. Remember, this is the company that gave the world the Edsel, the Pinto, and the Mustang II. Anyways, to the point at hand. While it's easy to dismiss cars like the 350Z...
