    I would check the backlash of the gears if they have already been replaced before. There may have been some debris or something in the shims that cleared out, giving more room for play now.

    Stalling and eec power relay

    The eec power relay in that big shiny black box that's usually located on the passenger strut tower. That gives power to the ECU, the Cooling Fans, and the Fuel pump. You might want to check and make sure that it has a solid ground (mine is an orange wire '88 TC going to the compressor).
