Well I think you answered your own question with that.... They do still work by telling the ECU to throw the code that your cats are bad (since you have no cats) but that cancels that out. So in effect yes, they are worthless because they're always saying your cats are bad.

Well that's the issue, his cobra engine isn't complete. He has the heads but I'm about 95% sure it's not the whole motor. He's got pieces and parts to the car all around his garage. I'm pretty sure the motor has a couple shot pistons as well... so buying the motor wouldn't really be an option...

That's new to me as well, maybe the dial-in for the calibration is different for the FRPP? But I agree, the differential is holding a ring and pinion, I don't see how another companies ring and pinion is easier to install than the next ones.
