    Aftermarket Air Conditioning Units/systems

Thanks for the reply. I've talked to all 3. Classic and Old Air were more 'interested' than Vintage seemed to be. Another bump -- maybe we've got folks out there who've used the non-factory systems that can weigh in on how well they work/cool.

    Aftermarket Air Conditioning Units/systems

Tried searching and found a few tidbits, but very old threads. I'm planning on completely replacing the HVAC unit in my Volvo. Looking for feedback from people that have done similar things in their early Stangs. Anyone with experience using Vintage Air, Classic Auto Air or Old Air Products...

Just Stabbed My Distributor... Cant Read The Marks On Balancer!

That camshaft choice is going to want more advance at idle. Try bumping it up to 16-18 degrees btdc. Better yet, once you get it started, adjust the dizzy to keep it running - then get a light on it. The challenge you may face is that you're going to need a good bit more advance down low to...

How much psi after stroking my engine?

Eventually, I'd be concerned about more cracks in the block.

bad things happen at 7000+ RPMS

A9L stops the fun at 6250 rpm. Two ways to stop it - one is to chip the car and reset it higher; second is to disconnect the spout and lock the timing in where you want it (32-36 degrees BTDC). If you haven't done either of those then your tach, be it stock or Autometer, is inaccurate.

opinions on this magical knock/tick sound...

Many times when mods like yours are made, people simply put the stock pushrod back in and let it go at that. Fact is, pushrod length IS the adjustable factor with pedestal mount rockers. So, when head gasket, heads, rockers, cam, lifters, valves are changed - or the heads are cut, block is...

good cam for a neraly stock set up?

In the heavier Cougars and T'birds with the 5.0, Ford spec'd the Cobra cam because it gave a bit more low end torque to move the heavier car. That's one option. Another I'd explore is Comp Cam's XE258. Just be sure your heads have the appropriate springs for the camshaft you end up using.

air charge sensor ? on explorer intake

On the Stang V8's, starting in 94 they altered the ecu parameters and moved the ACT to the filter airbox. The ecu is looking for temps in the range of ambient (say 0F - 100F). The Explorer/Mountaineer computers also were used to seeing ACT temps that resembled ambient as they had the ACT in...

    302 to a 331 ?

C'mon boys and girls. Stay in school and do the math. It's actually a 332. :) If you're gonna call 331.64 a 331, then you have to call the stocker's 301.59 a 301.

11.5 Compression Ratio on 92 Pump Gas Possible?

FWIW - there are a number of additional factors that enter into the whole detonation picture that haven't been touched on in the thread. Detonation is a complex phenomenon and often misunderstood. The areas that haven't been touched on yet include - 1) intake air temperature, 2) quench...

    A Little Disapointed

"Today's Shelby is the performance car that most enthusiasts want." A bit over-reaching. Probably should read 'Today's Shelby is the performance car that SOME MUSTANG enthusiasts want.' The Shelby is targeted primarily at 40-55 year olds with lots of expendable income that want to re-live...

    A Little Disapointed

Carroll has had little to do with day to day operations at Shelby Enterprises for many, many years. In case you hadn't noticed, most of his energy over the last decade has been used simply trying to stay alive. He quit racing himself over 40 years ago due to a bad heart -- a heart transplant a...

    A Little Disapointed

Someone else stated it best -- Shelby (and the Shelby organization) did little more than 'inspire' those responsible for designing the car. And he got a sizable paycheck for the use of his name. That's ok -- he paid his dues to get there. Let's face it guys -- we've basically got the engine...

    Which cam do i use?

If you're serious about the turbo set up, I'd leave the stock HO cam in there - works just fine with boost. If you must play with the cam, I wouldn't use any of the FRPP sticks. First choice is to get one of the custom guys to help you spec it; second is to look at CompCam's line of XE...

    Painting Turbine Rims Gloss Black

If you're gonna use a clear for protection -- then I'd use a flat or satin black paint. The flat is rough enough you can go right over it with clear. With a gloss black, you'll have to scuff them before you put the clear over it.

who has 1.7 rr's on stock e7te's & what length pushrod do you use?

It doesn't really matter what happened on someone else's engine -- on yours (foxbody) you're gonna have to mock it up and measure to determine proper pushrod length. Even combos with the same parts have different dimensions when you start measuring down at the .01"-.001" range. Who knows if...

need help finding a vin number on block

You'll find casting numbers on the blocks, but I don't think you'll find a VIN number anywhere. VIN = VEHICLE Identification Number -- they ID the vehicle, not the engine block.
