    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Thanks everyone for the tips and offers of assistance. Sorry for no updates in a while but I needed a weekend off. Here is the latest, I called in professional help. After checking all the basics, firing, firing order, timing, ect. He pulled carb and discovered hairline crack in the base. I...

Mike I assume you were speaking of the choke in the adjustments you mention above?

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Another update. Still have choke wired open, closed slightly from full open. Car will start, slightly difficult, but will start. Purrs like a kitten for 3 to 4 minutes and then just dies.

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Update. Set carb float well below spec, wired choke open, engine started with starter fluid, ran ok so long as I was pressing accelerator a bit. Without that it stalled out.

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Thanks, fuel tank was replaced earlier in project. Lines, pump flushed, carb rebuilt. Fuel in bowl is crystal clear. Just getting too much of it. Just spark checked all plugs, all good. Tried manually turning distributor, no help. Anyone interested in buying a possessed Mustang?

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Thanks again guys. I have tried all of your suggestions other than the timing adjustments. I am waiting for my helper to come by. Nevertheless, I am getting spark at coil and all plug wires. I have wired open choke. I have tried the wiggle test. Fuel pump is the mechanical variety so I...

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Everyone, Thanks for all of the input/ideas. I am pretty much weekend warrior with this project so I will post updates by Sunday evening. Also, just to make things more puzzling, I did have a chance to start spark checking each of the plug wires. Pulled the wire from #6 hooked it to the spark...

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

I am still struggling with my 70 Mustang base, 302, 2V, Motorcraft 2100D. Engine tries really hard to start but just won't get going. After trying to crank ventri are wet with fuel, plugs are wet with fuel. This is without pressing accelerator while trying to start. Covered/eliminated thus...

    Carb experts...help seriously needed

Yeah, plenty of gas. Gas in carb bowl plentiful and clean. I believe the gunk is gone. Getting plenty of flow into carb when pressing accelerator. Checked spark again from coil, it was somewhat intermitten so I replaced coil. Same result...nothing. But thanks!

    Carb experts...help seriously needed

This is a bit long guys but want to give you all the background.... Vehicle is a 70 Mustang base, 302 2 barrel, Motorcraft 2100 carb. Car sat for 2 years, when I bought it I was told fuel tank has been cleaned but nothing else. I flushed fuel lines, fuel pump, ect., rebuilt carb. Car ran like...

    Runs great cold!

Thanks for the tips. Gas gets to carb fine, no pump or tank venting issues. Noticed yesterday that engine stalls as choke plate opens when engine is warming up. If I hold choke plate slightly more closed than it "wants" to be based on temp the engine runs fine. I'm assuming this means choke...

    Choke

    Thanks.

    Runs great cold!

Choke is mechanical, original, heat driven. Seems to be working properly. Not a vacuum leak, just replaced all vac lines. Gas is going into carb when hot or warm. Not really running long enough to heat up fuel line to cause vapor lock. I am sure there is something I'm overlooking but I just...

    Choke

How do you fix a sticking automatic choke? Motorcraft 2100d carb.

    Runs great cold!

Yep, as strange as it sounds, its true. 70 Mustang base, 302, automatic, Motorcraft 2100D carb. Vehicle starts, idles and runs well until it starts to warm up. Then, if sitting and idling it just dies. If moving, it stalls. In either case, it won't restart without starter fluid until it...

    Carb problems???

I am working on restoring a 70 base coupe, 302, 2 barrel carb. Car has been sitting for about 2 years prior to my buying. All is going fair other than that it is running very rich. Carb is Motorcraft 2100D. It seems that auto choke is sticking. I have disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and...

Long time no post, I hope everyone is well! I have started the top replacement project. The difficult part has been he frame. On the passengers side, second piece of rail back was bent and cracked. Took it out, had it welded now it will not fit correctly. The rear of the piece lies about...

    66 Convertible top frame

Does anyone have any idea where I may get a convertible top frame for my 66? Actually I don't need the entire frame just the latch assemblies and a couple of side rails. I know some have been on ebay but boy have they been pricey! Thanks!

    Vacuum Advance/Oil pressure/Oil sender-Multi-part question

Hi all, Thanks for all of your help in the past. As you can tell I am back for more. My vehicle is a 66, 289, 2bb. Part 1-While doing some clean up on the engine noticed that the vacuum line running from the advance to the carb had come lose from the connection at the carb. Don't know how...
