    DVD players

you do not need any sort of generator. they figure it out with the nav antenna and proper mounting of the break out box.

    12" w3 box question

no actually it is just black carpet. it looks great in pics, but up close it's not that nice. i really don't care about the look of it though, it gets beat, badly. my loudest was at 54hz, but i think the box was actually tuned to something differant, but i have no clue as to what it was. but...

    12" w3 box question

i did do something like that in my pathfinder. the box i had was a slot proted 3 cuft box (tuned to 54 hz)for my power t1 15. it was loud as hell (139.5 on a bd 1000), but i built a 1.5 cuft sealed box cause i wanted some of my space back, and i actually think the sealed sounds better. it is...

Had question about Infinity Kappa speaker install...

the gain on the amp is to adjust for input. it gives flexability to the decks. not all decks are made the same, and the gain, bass boost, and crossover allow you to make every input signal sound the same. i do not reccomend turning the gain up past half. as for the bass knob turn it all the...

    Connecting to fuse

thanks for correcting me on the oversight. i completely forgot about wire size also. :nice:

Had question about Infinity Kappa speaker install...

the primary wire is the power wire fron the battery. it might have been a miss print, but it was most likley 25' of 8 awg red primary wire. anyway the problem of having 18awg wire is that it will choke down the sound. it's like running a 10awg wire to your starter, it will work, but it will...

    choosing the right amp

get a amp with a good internal crossover, your deck has only one pre amp out, and it is full range. the JL amp listed above is a great one for what you need.

    Connecting to fuse

do not connect to your fuse box, run a line for the amp from the battery with a inline fuse. and for the switching the (labeled rem on the amp) should be hooked to a switched 12 volt power (if you are using factory deck) or the remote (sometimes labeled remote lead, system lead, amp lead, or...

Had question about Infinity Kappa speaker install...

about the bass, check the crossover on the amp, might be set to high. your factory was either not crossed over, or it was somewhere around 80hz. i would suggest around 80hz for those speakers (i have them in my pathfinder, and am using a 12db per octave slope at 80 hz). on the subjest of...

    choosing the right amp

the 400 watts peak does not mean anything. it is the rms power that means something. as far as sensitivity that is the response of the driver, not the amp. so basically you need a 200watt rms amp at 4 ohm mono. if you have a good quality aftermarket deck the rockford rf2002 amp will work...

How beneficial is a remote bass knob?

i hate needing to have one in my truck. my rockford amp will only run at 60% without it (you can actually hear the differance). so mine is plugged in, and dropped behind the amp rack. i never touch the thing. to me they are completely pointless. but that is just my oppinion.

Looking for a sub/amp setup on a budget...???

you can also get infinity refrence subs for about the same money, and they are much beter subs. you need about 250 watts rms each (if you want two) and they are dual voice coil. my suggestion is a infinity 1232w (dual voice coil 12") 250 rms alpine mrpm350 350 watt rms mono amp, d class...

1/2 MDF versus 3/4 MDF for sub box...

the reason behind using thicker materials is rigidity. if the box flexes (and it will with a good sub and amp) it is wasted energy. i personally think you should use the 3/4 at the very least. for a while at the shop i worked at we were sent 5/8 mdf, and you could tell the differance. what i...

    remote start/alarm

yes there is a way to make it work, but as a professional installer, i will not tell you how. most places will not tell you either. i had a friend who had a remote start on his 5 speed car, and he gave someone from work his keys to get lunch, they remote started his car, and it ran into a rodeo...

I neek help from a fellow stang owner

check your local or install bay. i work in a bay, and have come accross what you need a couple of times, but they are gone now. if that does not pan out, cfheck your local electronics store, they should have things like that on hand, and the ones we sell are only 15 dollars, new.

10's and 1000 watts in what box for an explorer?

do not use a bandpass box, they sound like crap. in your explorer, a sealed or a properly tunes vented would be best. you have a ton of open space, and a bandpass would not properly take advantage of it.
